Death's POV

"It's not about if you like it or not." Itinaas niya ang kilay niya. "You have no choice but to do Death's job."

Strange. And I feel like I can talk with any language.

"I'm sure Death warned you before giving you his power, right?" He said something about a consequence. "You don't get to defy the divine laws. That's the consequence of the decision you made."

"What do I need to do? Do I have to..." Nagkibit-balikat ako. "... Kill people or something?"

She laughed. For the first time, I saw a different reaction to her aside of grumpiness. "Do that and you'll go straight to hell."

The man living on that house was alone. And there's a black spirit lurking around him.

"Can you see the black spirit?" Tumango ako bilang sagot. "That means he's dying."

It was a tough job for me. I watched as people die in front of me and I guide their souls whether it's in hell or in heaven.

"You're doing great, Azriel." I looked at her with full of annoyance.

"Don't call me using that name."

"Alright, Death." She emphasized the word Death. Napatingala ako sa madilim na kalangitan. It's been what? Few years? I lost count.

Noong panahong buhay ako, no one saw me. It's as if I'm invisible even though I'm breathing. So, this is what it feels like to exist but not actually living?

"Looks like you're having fun." Suddenly, memories of him flashed down. He's the younger brother of the former Death.

"Mikhail." "You're Death's younger brother--"

"Come on, we are now brothers." He patted my shoulder as if we're close. "Still so you, Death."

After that night, I found out that Mikhail is Death's younger brother, but I tried so hard to avoid him. There's something on his aura that's telling me that he's dangerous.

One day, he said something. And that changed everything.

"Hey, brother." Napalingon ako sa dumating. There I saw Mikhail, walking closer to me. "You seem lonely."

I laughed, humorlessly. "I'm always alone." He's trying to insult me, but it doesn't affect me as much as he thinks. "What do you want?"
