"I'll see you again, right?" Reverie asked as soon as we stepped our foot on Crosswood Town. I didn't answer, or perhaps I didn't know what to say. I'm the one who wants her dead, yet why am I running away?
"Death!" she yelled. I didn't look back. I just stood there, waiting for her to say something. "I'll see you!"
Bumuntong hininga ako at naglakad na paalis doon. That's right, Reverie. We'll see each other again and again until I gain your trust and kill you.
---------------------------
I put my hands inside my pocket and stood up.
"I accepted your offer to come with you, remember?" I messed her hair that made her smile. Trust in me more, Reverie. I want to see how broken you'd be once I destroy you.
Naglakad na kami. I didn't ask her where we were going, I just followed her and I was stunned when we got in Crosswood's center Town. There are people dancing, eating, and singing. Buhay na buhay ang bayan.
"It's Crosswood Town's fiesta," sabi niya habang iginagala ang paningin sa paligid. She's smiling from ear to ear as if she anticipated this. I pretended as if I was enjoying and I tried to smile back. Jeez, I hate smiling. "Doon, o!"
It's like an amusement park, a newly built one. There are rides and food stalls. Buhay na buhay ang buong paligid, not like before. Crosswood was once a bloody town, yet look how lively it became.
No one can see me and she'd find it out. "Bakit? Takot ka sa heights?"
I bit my lip. "Y-Yeah, ikaw na lang. I'll watch you down here," I lied. So what? She's too stupid to believe me anyway. She keeps on glancing and smiling at me. Even though she's shouting, the happiness on her face isn't vanishing at all.
I waited for her with my arms crossed on my chest. "Grabe! Ang saya!" sigaw niya na parang bata. I smiled and shook my head. She's full of energy again.
"Ma'am, baka gusto niya pong bilhin 'tong picture ninyo sa ride kanina," sabi ng isang lalaking lumapit bigla kay Reverie. He's holding a picture, at nang tingnan ko 'yon, hindi ko napigilang matawa. Reverie's mouth was wide open and her hands were in the air. She's totally ugly on the picture.
"Ito po, Kuya. Salamat!" She stared on her picture and she smiled. "Sayang hindi kita kasama."
"Of course, you're too ugly to be with in a picture," sabi ko kaya siniko niya ang tagiliran ko. She tried a lot of rides and just like the first one, I didn't come with her. She's childish anyway. Naglalakad kami nang may makita siyang claw machines, she picked the machine with pastel bears.
"Gusto ko n'on." She pointed out the pink one. She then looked at me as if she's planning something again.
"Kung gusto mo, kuhanin mo mag-isa mo." I rolled my eyes and left. I heard her whine so I looked back, she tried the claw machine but she couldn't get atleast one. Airhead. I amusingly stared at her as she keeps on trying.
I face palm, what the hell is wrong with her? She's embarassing. I walked toward her and pushed her aside that made her still.
"Stay there and behave," I said. I grabbed the one she wants and she was shocked when I managed to get it. "Let's go."
"Wait!" Napatigil ako sa paglalakad at nagtatakang nilingon siya. "May isa pa akong gustong sakyan. This time, come with me."
"What now?" She pointed the ferris wheel that made me sigh. Her face was beamed with joy as she held the glass barrier as if she's touching the sky. I just stared at her.
"I used to be a bird," she said. "I was caged because of the ability I have. I used to be a bird who couldn't fly away from her cage. I used to think that once I got out, no one would be there to teach me how to fly and I'd end up falling. I was afraid to fly because I didn't find any reason to do so. But now, I realized something..." Lumingon siya sa akin. "... Maybe I have this kind of ability for me to save people."
Hindi ako nagsalita. Again, I don't know what to say. Maybe because I knew what she's about to say and I'm afraid that I'd say yes even though it would lead me to my downfall.
"What if God gave me this ability to save those who were about to die?" Her eyes started showing hope. As if she realized something worth doing. "Death..."
"Y-Yes?"
She held the glass again as if she's holding the sky in her hand. "Help me save people."
What is this feeling? Why am I putting myself in a place where I know I'd be lost? Is it because of her again? Am I about to repeat the mistake I did?
"Yeah, let's do that."
