"Feelings don't work on a time table."Miles groaned shifting in bed.
How was it his bed was always taken over? Willow laid on his chest cuddling into him as she squeezed him tightly.
Parker kicked him slightly making him wince turning to glare at the dark-haired twin who didn't deter in his sleep. Damien had found his way into his bed at some point in the night as well. A full-on snuggle party it seemed.
Miles couldn't really blame them it seemed they were all plagued during the night with haunted thoughts and ugly dreams.
He was just grateful he had a queen size bed.
He carefully shifted Willow into Damien's grasp watching as the pair cuddled into one another. He smiled softly at the sight moving over to check on Reggie. His younger brother blew out some raspberries his hands moving in grabby motions to Miles.
"Hey there little man," Miles pressed a kiss on his cheek. "Good morning."
He tip-toed out of the room bringing Reggie downstairs to start his morning routine.
He needed their routine. Their routine was good. It worked. They were all accustomed to it and with so much change they needed this consistency.
He quickly finished changing Reggie's diaper putting his baby brother in his playpen. His favorite stuffed bunny clutched to his younger brother's chest.
He moved into the kitchen pulling out some eggs and a frying pan. With his free hand he tugged out his phone, he dialed Avery's phone number hopping up onto the counter.
"And here I thought you forgot about me?" Avery's sweet voice came across the phone sounding like southern bells. Miles couldn't help the way his lips quirked into a smile.
"Forget about you tulip I could never." Miles chirped back brightly into the phone.
Avery Wells.
A chance encounter at a party and it was like love at first sight.
His girlfriend of nearly a year, he didn't know how she put up with him. Miles was a lot to deal with eccentric was putting it lightly and yet she still kept him around.
"Well it sure seems that way," Avery hummed sounding disappointed making his heart hurt. He felt bad he hadn't been able to give her as much attention as she deserved. "We've barely talked and I haven't seen you in almost a month. A month Miles. People have started to ask me if I'm single because your barely around."
"I know. I'm really sorry," Miles winced running a hand through his hair as he started cracking some eggs into a pan. "Just with the kids-"
Avery sighed loudly making his frown deepen. The one thing that always kept him slightly back in his relationship was that Avery and his siblings just couldn't seem to get along.
Saying they clashed put it lightly.
He was torn in two different directions between the girl he loved and the family who had always been there for him. Ten years old he was accepted with open arms. He had hoped his younger siblings and Avery would eventually get used to one another.
However, it always seemed like he was forcing cats and dogs into a room together.
"It's always with your siblings! The twin's this! Reggie and Willow that!" Avery whined, "Family's important Miles but aren't I too? I should be able to spend time with my boyfriend! Do you even want to date me?"
His heart skipped a beat at that. "Do I want to date you? Your the best thing in my life." He truly meant that. Avery was like a shining light of beauty, and grace, all put into one. She could ask him for the world and he'd do anything to get it to her. She deserved it. She was...Avery.
