"You're scared to tell people how much it hurts, so you keep it all to yourself."

A piercing scream was what woke Miles up. He had fallen asleep after taking Willow and Reggie out for a morning walk. It was really unfair that they were early birds even on the weekends.

Instantly he recognized it as one of the twins and, without missing a beat shot out of bed. Willow somehow stayed asleep not hearing the noise, and Reggie was peacefully sleeping in his crib. He didn't want to leave her unaware if something bad had happened.

His gut twisted as he only hesitated for a brief moment before making his decision.

"Willow," He shook his sister awake. Willow rolled in the bed her sleepy eyes finding his. "Willow you need to wake up and lock the door behind me. Okay? Do you understand?"

Willow's eyes widened and she quickly sat up in bed. A loud clash sounding from downstairs and ever bad scenario went through his head. There was shattering and things falling and Miles knew he needed to get downstairs.

"Right now Willow don't unlock the door unless you hear my voice."

Miles didn't hesitate in grabbing a bat from under the bed and moving out of the bedroom.

He closed the door only pausing a moment to hear the lock behind him. No way was he leaving the kids any chance of getting hurt. His heart raced and his feet pounded down the stairs three at a time. His eyes flickered across the living room at a wicked rate.

Immediately searching for any visible sign of danger.

"Duck!" Parker's voice was loud as he yelled. Miles reacted within an instant ducking as a screeching sound made him look up with wide eyes. He almost blinked gaping as he looked at the wild animal swarming his living room.

Briefly he wondered if he was still asleep but the twin's panicked voices caused him to focus.

"How did a bird get in the house!?" Miles yelped just about tripping down the stairs as the bird flew rapidly over his head turning and circling the living room.

Damien and Parker had the couch flipped over and were hiding underneath it. There was a roll of paper towels that must have been tossed at some point.

The tissue roll completely undone and spread throughout the living room. Various other objects were tossed and discarded. He moved staying in his hunched position down the rest of the stairs. Quickly working to make his way towards his younger siblings, baseball bat clenched tightly in his hand.

"I left the window open," Damien had a blush on his cheek. The guilt in his tone was strong and it made Miles cringe. "I was hot I didn't think a freaking bird would fly in."

"Duck!" Parker yelped again making Miles yelp as he moved dropping to the floor. Army crawling it would be.

He couldn't hide the slight hiss. He was still sore and bruised from the fight. He crawled over to the twins his eyes dancing with amusement.

Just their luck they would be trapped in the house with a bird.

The Lightwoods could never get a normal Sunday now could they?

"Lach is never going to believe this." He couldn't believe this. How was it that this was his life? Birds? Poop? And no sleep?

"Miles we have a bird in the house," Parker looked all too stressed sweat trickled down his face. Damien looked pissed Miles was sure more at himself than anything else. "I think it ate my homework."

"I can write you a note?" Miles offered joking only to have both twins whack him on the back of the head.

The bird let out another screech and a jolt of fear went through him.
