You listened as Sam recounted the highlights from his latest mission. It consisted mostly of what he would call his "superhero moments": any sort of trick he'd perform mid-air while avoiding the enemy. But you couldn't help but feel a pair of eyes burn into the side of your face. You casually glanced over to the side, looking for the culprit. There sat Bucky Barnes, eyes glued on you and Sam. You couldn't exactly read his facial expression, but his jaw was clenched and his eyebrows furrowed.
"You noticed too, huh," Sam spoke, interrupting your thoughts. You returned your attention back to Sam, giving him a look of confusion. "Bucky has been staring at you since I walked over here to talk to you. But won't take it personally; he stares at everyone."
You laughed at The Falcon's comment, but in all honesty, you couldn't help but take it personally. Out of all the other Avengers, Bucky often stared at you the most. Particularly during mission briefings, you tried your best to sit behind him in hopes to avoid being locked under his gaze. Group training sessions, walking by each other in the hallways of the compound. Even when you're off on missions with the team, his eyes were always on you, tracking your every movement. One time as passed by the common area, Bucky was midconversation with Steve before his attention was completely placed on your presence.
Sam continued describing his mission. You impressed yourself that you could even pretend to listen despite your mind being flooded with the question of why? Did Bucky hate you? Did you accidentally overstep and he's holding onto a grudge? You internally sighed.
Excusing yourself, you retreat to your room in hopes to find a way to get your mind off the Bucky situation.
Lying on your couch, you let out a puff of air. Suddenly, there was a knock on your door. You sighed once more, rubbing your face. "Door's open," you called out.
The door opened and Wanda walked in, sending a sweet smile in your direction. She stepped into your living spaces before shutting the door behind her. As she began to walk towards the couch, her eyebrows furrowed trying to read your expression. "[Y/N], what's going on?
You shrugged, trying to figure that out for yourself. "It's really nothing. It's just that Bucky stares at me a lot—"
"Oh!" Wanda interrupting, "so you have noticed!"
"See!" You exclaimed, raising your arms in exasperation. "Sam said the same thing. Like I know he jokes around that Bucky stares all the time, but I don't know what his deal is.
"I could always read his mind next time it happens," Wanda insisted, a grin growing across her face.
You rolled your eyes and shook your head, "Wanda, that feels like a weird invasion of privacy."
"If you don't me interjecting," Both you and Wanda jump as your attention is redirected to Vision who was emerging through the wall. "Perhaps you should just talk to Mr. Barnes. Maybe you can find an understanding then."
"Vis, what did I tell you about eavesdropping and walking through walls like that?" Wanda questioned, cocking an eyebrow. Vision simply offered an embarrassed smile.
Wanda continued, returning her attention to you, "But I think Vision has a point. Maybe talking to Bucky about it is the best option."
You thought about it for a moment. What would that conversation even look like? Hey! You stare at me a lot, what's that about? But what other option did you have? Bucky didn't seem to want to approach you and you could only ignore it for so much longer.
