Warning(s): none, just that it's 40s Bucky and his cute self 🥰

~~

An obnoxious tapping came from outside your bedroom window, drawing you out of your restful sleep. You rubbed your eyes in an attempt to get them to adjust to the darkness.

The tapping didn't stop until you pulled your curtains open. On the other side of your window was your boyfriend of just over a year, Bucky. His smile grew wide as he took in your features. You opened the window, scowling at him.

"Bucky," you whispered harshly, "what are you doing? It's late."

Bucky chuckled, cupping your cheek with his hand. "I'm here to see you, obviously. I want to take you somewhere."

You unconsciously leaned into the small gesture, but a look of annoyance was etched on your face, "Bucky, it's the middle of the night."

"The perfect time to sneak out," he replied mischievously. Bucky placed a gentle kiss on your nose. "Come on, doll," Bucky whined, "I'll have you back before your parents notice."

You sighed. You knew he wouldn't leave unless you went with him. "Give me a second," you muttered, causing Bucky to erupt in a series of "yes"s and fist pumps from Bucky.

As he began to climb back down, you walked towards your closet and changed into a dress that fell about knee-length on you. You grabbed a cardigan before you snuck out of your window, being careful as you shimmied down the side of your parent's house.

Once your feet reached the ground, Bucky didn't waste a moment as he placed his hands on your waist. You instinctually wrapped your arms around his neck, giggling at the fact that you were out of the house so late. You knew without a doubt that your parents would kill you if they found out you had snuck out, especially with a boy. They liked Bucky, don't get it wrong, but they wouldn't hesitate to limit your contact with him for a while if they found you two.

Bucky kissed your lips, bringing you back to reality. It was gentle, feeling his smile against your lips. Pulling away, he placed his forehead against yours. "I missed you, doll."

"Bucky, you saw me earlier today," you teased.

Bucky chuckled, taking your hand, "And a moment away from you, my love, is a moment too long."

You cocked an eyebrow, trying to keep from laughing at his cheesiness. "Where'd you pick that one up, Buck?"

"Came up with it myself," he said proudly. "Come on, I snuck you out for a reason."

Bucky began to lead you out into the main street, lit brightly by the streetlights. New York was surprisingly quiet late at night. The typically busy streets were nearly empty, shops and restaurants completely empty. The only sound filling the streets was the loud music pouring out of the walls of the speakeasies.

You walked together into a nearby park. "Bucky, where are you taking me," you questioned.

Bucky pulled you in closer to his side, wrapping his arm around your waist, "I found this spot in the park the other day. I wanted to show you." As he pulled the branches of some trees in your way, Bucky continued to lead the way stopping at a small creek.

The night was clear, the moon and stars reflecting off of the relatively shallow water. "Bucky," you said breathlessly, turning to him, "this is-"

"I take it that you like it then." Bucky beamed, gently kissing your temple. Bucky then spun you, causing you to erupt in laughter. "Dance with me, my love," Bucky muttered, giving you a lazy smile.

Placing an arm across his shoulders, taking his hand in yours, "I thought you'd never ask."

You swayed to the stillness of the night, the flowing creek keeping the tempo. Chase kisses were left behind by Bucky on your head, neck, and shoulders. Hums of contentment were exchanged between the two of you.

"You mean the world to me, [Y/N]. I don't think I say that enough," Bucky whispered, his voice almost lost in the gentle breeze.

You laughed, pulling away slightly in order to meet his gaze, "Buck, I think you tell me that every other day."

Bucky chuckled, "It still doesn't seem to be enough, babydoll. I love you so much it hurts."

You could feel your heart swell at the kindness of his words. Leaving you speechless, you kissed him sweetly hoping that it would say all the words that you couldn't seem to string together.

Time continued to tick by and, as promised, Bucky eventually began to walk you home. There was some small talk exchanged as you journeyed back as you took in the stillness of the city before the early morning risers.

Standing outside your home, Bucky spun you one last time. He shot an endearing grin in your direction, the kind that could make you fall in love with him all over again."

Bucky pulled you into him, one hand on your waist drawing circles with his thumb, the other caressing your face. His eyes darted across your face taking in every single one of your features. "I'm so in love with you, doll."

"So you've told me a thousand times before," you teased, giggling. While he did make it his mission to remind you how much he loved you, it never got old. Loving him never got old.

Bucky smirked, and before you could realize what happened, he had dipped you, his arms holding you steady. You look up at him, his eyes sparkling in mirth, "And I'm going to keep reminding you, thousands of times over."

Standing you back up, Bucky walked you over to the side of the house, closest to your room. Giving you a boost up, he watched you slip back through your window.

Careful not to make too much noise, you popped your head back out your window. Bucky flashed his pretty-boy smile in your direction one last time.

"I'll see you later, my love," you whispered.

"Not soon enough, my angel," Bucky whispered back. With that, he walked off into the early hours of the day. You watched until Bucky was out of sight. You quickly got back into bed in hopes to see him sooner. Your dreams were filled with your brunette lover from Brooklyn, leaving you to sleep peacefully.
