"I still don't understand why you dragged me into this," Bucky grumbled, eyes locked on the pavement of the highway ahead.

You looked over at him from the passenger side of the car and sighed, "I already told you, Everyone else was busy and Stark asked me to babysit Morgan."

You and Bucky were driving towards the Stark's secluded home away from the city. Tony and Pepper had made plans to get away this weekend and recruited you to watch over Morgan. Any excuse to hang out with your platonic niece and little extra cash didn't hurt. You had to persuade Bucky to tag along. A friend and an extra set of hands in taking care of a 5-year-old were much needed.

Bucky rolled his eyes, "That's just it! He asked you. When you asked to hang out this weekend, this is not what I thought you had in mind."

You raised an eyebrow, "And what did you have in mind?"

Bucky was silent for a moment, eyebrows furrowing, "It doesn't matter."

You wanted to pick his mind, but you decided against it. While Bucky had always been more introverted and more hesitant to let people in, you were persistent. When you were first getting to know each other, you would talk to him about anything in hopes to break him out of his shell. Initially, Bucky was taken aback, uncomfortable even, by your constant desire to be around him. Eventually, he became fond of your presence and you soon became one of his dear friends... but you'd be kidding yourself if you said you hadn't hoped there would be more out of the relationship.

Bucky pulled into the driveway leading to the Stark home. You watched as the front door swung open followed by an excitable Morgan, waving violently at you both. As soon as Bucky put the car in park, you quickly got out of the vehicle.

Morgan's smile grew wide and she began running toward you. "Auntie Y/N," she exclaimed. You ran up to her and threw your arms around her. She erupted into laughter as you began to spin her around.

You set her down and leaned back to get a better look at her. "Morgan, you've grown so much, my girl." Her excited laughter was contagious as a smile began to grow on your face.

"You're telling me," Pepper said from the front door, "Tony and I blink and she's already taller than she was yesterday."

You smiled at Pepper, "Well hopefully she won't grow too much while you're gone this weekend."

"Speaking of," Tony said, stepping in from behind Pepper, "we need to get going."

"Thanks again for agreeing to stay with her. We really needed a bit of time away." Pepper sighed, as her husband loaded their bags outside.

"It's no problem at all, Pepper," you replied warmly.

You felt a small tap against your leg, your eyes darting towards little Morgan. She pointed towards the trunk of the car, "Who's that, Y/N?"

There was Bucky, digging out your bags for your weekend stay. You had almost forgotten that he was there. He slammed the back door shut and looked in your direction. He gave a tight-lipped smile and a shy wave.

You laughed and turned about to Morgan, "That's my friend, Bucky. He's going to be hanging out with us this weekend."

Morgan thought for a moment, then nodded. She proceeded to grab your arm and pull you along with her into their home.
