Chapter 37

Meanwhile in the hospital, Socrates and his mom were being taking cared of, laying and sleeping on the beds. Then Socrates wakes up and slowly opens his eyes. He sees his mother still sleeping, but she looks okay and like she's still resting. Socrates softly smiles at that sight. Then a nurse comes in to check on them.

-How are you feeling?

She asks Socrates since he was awake.

-Good I'd say

He replied. Then his mother woke up too.

-Did you rest well ma'am?

She asked his mom and she nodded as a reply.

-Well then, I'm glad you're feeling better already

The nurse said, smiled and headed out to leave the room.

Then some smoke comes in from then window. It was closed, but not completely, an extremely small part of it was still open. Socrates' mother's bed was right next to it. A small amount of smoke gets into her eyes and as soon as it does she starts yelling from pain. The nurse thankfully hadn't left the room yet.

-Oh no...! Cover your eyes young man!

The nurse says as she runs out to ask the staff for help

-EMERGENCY! ROOM 202!

The mother's eyes popped out at that moment and her whole body slowly turned into a Psither. Socrates started crying while also being terrified. For his bad luck, he couldn't move cause of his injuries, all he could do was cover his eyes so he won't turn into a Psither too. At that exact moment though, Artemis gets inside from that window.

-Socrates!

She shouts in a worried tone

-Artemis?

He said and slightly opened his eyes. Artemis shuts down the window to prevent any more smoke getting in, and then kicks down the Psither, which was her mother. She kicked it down with all of her force and said

-Don't even think of laying a finger on him

Then, as she holds it down with her leg, she aims her gun on its eyeholes.

-ARTEMIS WAIT!

Socrates screams to warn Artemis but it was too late. She shot the Psither, it was dead now. Socrates still with tears in his eyes, is in pure sock.

-Are you alright dude?! I'm so glad I got here just in time!

She said.

-Artemis...that was...mom...

He said while his arm was still lifted up from when he tried to warn her.

-What?...

She says and drops down her gun and takes a look at the Psither.

-You must be joking...did I really just kill mom?...

She said while starting to tear up. She couldn't hold them in, she let the tears run down her cheeks and dropped her head on the Psither's chest while loudly crying.

-Artemis...

Socrates proceeded to try and calm her down but Artemis already broke down.

-Why?! Why is this happening?! What did we do to deserve this?!

She was complaining while her face was buried in the Psither's dead body.

-But...even if I wouldn't kill her... we wouldn't be able to bring her back, right?! We had no other choice, right?!

She said while trying to keep her sanity. Socrates trying to not make her feel any worse, agreed with her.

-Right...

-I can't believe this just happened... I just want this to end...

She said and lifted her head up. The nurse and the staff had arrived when all of this happened. Artemis recognizes the nurse, she's the same one that treated her the last time, Kimiko's mother. She hugged Artemis tightly.

-It's you again...

She said in a hopeful tone.

-What you did was very brave...now go win this battle, we believe in you. We will take care of your brother, no need to worry, we'll take him to another room.

Artemis still sobbing, looks at Socrates and he nods in agreement with the nurse.

-Alright then...thank you...everyone, I will open this window to get out, so cover your eyes for a moment...

She said and they covered them. Then she left and went back to battle.

As the others were fighting, Leon was trying to come up with a way to lower the amount of smoke the stone is releasing.

-Lucy? Can you hear me?

He said.

-Yes, what is the situation?

she asked

-We're trying to kill all of them, but first we should slow down the smoke! Can you give me some thick fabric to tie around it? It's the only thing I can think of now

-Okay, right on it.

And so, with her powers she gave that fabric to Leon. He gets right next to it and puts the fabric above it and then ties it. The smoke is getting trapped in there so the plan worked. A lot less smoke is able to get out of that fabric.

-Alright, now that that's done... I should go back and help the others...

They were fighting hard, both for their lives and for the lives of the citizens. Christian, Kimiko and Taro were still holding on to their plan.

-Behind you!

Christian shouts, telling them where a Psither is coming from. Kimiko turns around and crushes it with her tentacles, and does the same for any other Psither in sight.

-On your left, Taro!

Christian shouts again. Taro lets out a scream while using his power, making the Psithers fall down asleep. As Kimiko finished killing the last Psither she could see, she turns around and finishes them off too.

-Good job so far guys!

Kimiko said and high fived Taro and then high fived in the air, supposed to be a high five for Christian. No more Psithers were around the area they were in, but you could see more of them a little further. Kimiko and Taro start heading towards there, and repeat their plan again. After successfully killing a couple of Psithers, their luck decides to fade away. A Psither that was too fast managed to chop half of Kimiko's tentacle off. As soon as Taro sees that, widens his white empty eyes and attacks the Psither with the street sign he was holding. Screaming as loud as he has never have done before. His voice constantly changing while screaming, once being his normal voice and once his voice when he uses his power. Even though he knew that for a Psither to die you have to get them in the eyeholes, he kept thrusting the street sign inside its chest. After doing that for a couple of times, Kimiko yells in a worried tone

-Taro! That's enough! Please stop before it gets you too!

Taro stops, looks on the Psither a last time and pushes the sign inside its eyeholes. As soon as it dies, he takes it out again and walks away from the Psither. Kimiko runs up to him and hugs him as the blood from her severed tentacle was running down.

-Don't do something like that again!... I can't imagine loosing you...

She told him. Taro just hugged her back. "You still see me as small and probably weak, don't you...like a...little brother..." he thought to himself when Kimiko told him these words.
