(few years later after Hiccup and Astrid get married)

"There were dragons when I was a boy. Ah, there were great, grim sky dragons that nested on the clifftops like gigantic, scary birds. Little, brown, scuttle dragons that hunted down the mice and rats in well-organized packs. Preposterously huge sea dragons that were 20 times as big as the big blue whale. Some say they crawled back into the sea, leaving not a bone nor a fang for men to remember them by. Others say they were nothing but folktales to begin with. Ah, i'm okay with that"

In the distance Hiccup could see what he could make out, Toothless laying on a rock with (y/n) on the other side as three little dragons popped themselves out. Hiccup couldn't help but let a smile tug at his lips as Toothless lifts into the air and lands on the front of the boat staring at Hiccup with his eyes slitted watching him, Astrid and their kids "hey. Hey there, bud" Hiccup held up his left hand. Toothless slowly moved onto the boat watching carefully "remember me?" Hiccup stayed where he was as Toothless got on his hind legs

While Astrid protected her kids "it's okay"

Toothless sniffed Hiccup's hand, immediately remembering him as his eyes went wide while grunting happily when he tackled Hiccup. The two parents laughing, Toothless circling his old rider "hey, i'm glad to see you, too, bud" nudging Hiccup on his back and licking him

Astrid looks to her kids "he's not gonna eat your father"

"Hey!" Hiccup in return just laughs as Toothless licks him even more "how's the tail holding up? Probably could use some oil and a little fine-tuning"

Astrid smiles to the children "look, it's okay. They're friends"

At that Toothless nudges him before giving another slobbery lick as Hiccup groans "cut it out" Toothless notices the small people as Hiccup holds a hand out "here"

"Go on, it's all right"

"Come. he won't hurt you. Hold your hands out. Like this" Hiccup flattens his daughter's hand before doing the same to his son "that's it" Toothless stares at the small people, his head frills going out "let him come to you" after seeing they meant no harm Toothless put his nose to the two kids hands purring. Hiccup's kids gasping at this

The next thing they knew Hiccup was on Toothless's back once again with his son in front of him flying in the air as Toothless did some flips and twirls. Hearing Hiccup's son laugh made Toothless smile. As he flew back down and straight, they saw (y/n) flying to the left of them, giving them a smile. Looking back Hiccup and his son saw Toothless and (y/n)'s babies flying behind them. The girl sends a blast in front of her and disappears like (y/n) does before reappearing again. The three watch the kid while flying next to their dad. Hiccup's son reaches out to one of the male babies as he paws at his hand squeaking. Astrid flying past on Stormfly with her daughter

"Legend says that when the ground quakes or lava spews from the earth, it's the dragons, letting us know they're still here, waiting for us to figure out how to get along. Yes, the world believes the dragons are gone, if they ever existed at all. But we Berkians, we know otherwise. And we'll guard this secret until the time comes when dragons can return in peace"
