Aria

Aria was not amused. She apparently had to go to school again. Like, who does that these days right? But nooo, she absolutely had to have a proper high school education.

She was on the brink of insanity, seated in an empty classroom ten minutes early thanks to her psycho sister. Honestly, most people showed up at the end of school, much less before it even started. And this was only homeroom. Aria sighed, fiddling with her golden bracelet. It had been a gift from her mom when she was younger and their parents didn't have favorites.

Refusing to feel depressed about this, she slumped over on the desk. At least her outfit was awesome- she knew it had been a good idea to go to Hollister the week before. She pulled out her phone, ready to start texting Kalyani about it. About 3.5 milliseconds later, the door flew open so hard it bounced back and smacked the person behind it in the face. Aria didn't resist. She laughed. Behind said person was probably their teacher, since a voice said quietly, "Miss Daye, I'd rather you not physically express your terrible attitude."

And sure enough, in the lead was the girl they'd met the other day, the one Aria had nicknamed 'BMW bitch.'

Behind her was the man selling ice cream called Elijah Stone. Aria faintly recalled him saying something about teaching, but she'd been too busy at the time checking out Daye's sick car.

She didn't bother to look through the stampede of teenagers that soon filed into the room. The teacher straightened up and started roll call, making Aria start dozing off until he said, "Angelica Daye!"

Because she was very familiar with that name. She and Kalyani had met Angelica years ago at summer camp, but she'd ghosted them out of nowhere.

She almost fell out of her chair once she saw the person responding.

"I'm here. And it's Arlo, not Angelica. I don't like my other name," she said, her lips twisted into a pout.

"Right then, Arlo Daye it is."

Aria felt insanely stupid. How many people even had the last name Daye? Eventually, Mr. Stone started assigning seats. He instructed a black-haired boy with glasses- whose name Aria remembered was Leo Chen- to sit on her right, and wouldn't you know it, Arlo Daye ended up on her left.

The teacher went on about something, distracted to the point Aria realized how she could use her time wisely. Turning towards Arlo, she said, "You look nice today, princess."

Arlo disregarded this comment. So that didn't work. Aria opted for Shakespearean rizz.

"The world had never seen such a wonder until you sat, cross legged, on this chair before me."

Finally, Arlo turned to face her fully. "Shut up."

Aria got the chance to get a better look at this girl. She had a heart-shaped face, half hidden by her blonde bangs. Her lips were still contorted into a glossy pink sneer, but most striking of all were her eyes. Her eyes were pale blue with a nearly violet sheen to them. Aria hadn't spent this long looking at her back at summer camp, so what she gathered was this:

Arlo had changed. The last time the twins had seen her, she was soft-spoken and dark haired, and Aria had never noticed the purple tinge to her eyes before.
