Kalyani

Evelyn waved a brown covered book with tiny black lettering on the spine. It read 'Fir Hills Directory.'

Throat dry from the shock of Wilder's injury, Kalyani coughed a few times. "That looks about right. Where'd you get it? Was it in one of Leo's stacks from home?"

Slowly, Evelyn shook her head. "No it wasn't. It was just... here. Like it appeared out of nowhere. We should still check it out."

Kalyani felt a hand squeeze hers. She looked out of the corner of her eye. It was Wilder, his other palm still wrapped up. She squeezed back.

"Let's have a look, then," Aria said hesitantly.

Now everyone was crowded around Evelyn, who looked confused and still really really worried. She flipped to the first page. There were four tidy columns every two pages, with people's phone numbers, addresses, and full names. It was in alphabetical order so they'd have to go all the way to W.

"Hey, let's find random people's locations. We will never have this kind of power in our hands again," Wilder suggested.

Arlo rolled her eyes. "This is proof you're a freak. Honestly, I'm all for it. Maybe next week though, when this is all over and we have regular lives."

Wilder's smile flickered for a moment, but it was back to normal before Kalyani could process the change. "It's confirmed! Can we at least look for Principal Bustamònte?

Evelyn smirked evilly. "Let's do that first." She turned to the Bs, finding two different people with the same last name. "Which one?" she asked Leo.

"I think it's the one called Anila. The other one is a man," he deadpanned.

Kalyani and Aria laughed as Evelyn punched his shoulder. "Hey, she lives pretty close to Jacob and I. You don't think she's seen us get up to trouble, has she?"

"Our work is for the greater good," Jacob said primly. "She would be proud of us."

Aria made a face. "I sincerely doubt that. Y'know, we should prank call her! Her number's right there."

"We're getting off task," Jacob interjected. "Let's focus on finding Sarah instead."

"Next week," whispered Arlo, very obviously looping her arm through Aria's.

Without further ado, Evelyn flipped straight to W. Sarah Wesner.

"Shit!" exclaimed Wilder suddenly. He looked at them sheepishly. "Sorry guys, my hand started hurting again. I'm gonna run to the restroom to see if I can wash it."

Leo studied his hoodie in apprehension but ultimately said nothing. Kalyani groaned. "Oh, come on. Fine. We'll wait."

As soon as he was gone, she turned back. "We are so not gonna wait."

Her full name was Sarah Cierra Wesner. Across from it was her phone number, but her location had been covered with whiteout.

"Seriously?" Kalyani snapped, shocked by her own outburst. "Why would someone white it out? If Roxanne put this book here, she should at least give us all the information we need."

Aria held up her hands. "Maybe it wasn't Roxanne who put it here. It's probably to protect her privacy or something. At least we have her phone number, so why not call it?"

"Okay, okay. Sorry," Kalyani whispered. Her hands were shaking, which Aria noticed immediately. To Kalyani's relief, she pulled out her own phone and started punching in the numbers.

As they waited, Leo snaked an arm around Evelyn's waist and pulled her to him. He leaned his head against hers and mumbled something, to which she responded by pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. Kalyani stifled a laugh as Jacob mimed a barfing motion over their heads.
