"And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light."
Genesis 1
I had to
You quickly fit in the Ishigami Village, and everyone was so kind and warm to you that you couldn't ask for more. You helped with the science projects while learning things from Senku. The boy certainly made it more interesting than school had ever done.
He was amazing.
The amount of knowledge he had, his excitement on new experiments... It was fascinating to you. He was one of a kind and you felt blessed to have him in this world.
"What are we doing this for?" You ask, peering over his shoulder to see what he was working on.
He grins. "I'm making the light of science."
"The light of science?" You repeat, wondering what he meant. Then, something clicked on your mind, and you look at him with wide eyes. "You're making a bulb?!"
His grin widens. "I sure am."

The light was nothing but a sliver of what you were used to, but somehow it shone the brightest of ever you had ever seen.
As you look up to see the light illuminating the darkness, you can't help but feel tears in your eyes, your heart clenching with nostalgia.
You had realized just how dark the night truly was when you were on your own. No lanterns, no screen light, not even a fire to illuminate the absolute black of the sky. You only had the light of the stars, and you realized you had never seen so many of them in your life.
"Gen..." You murmur, not taking your eyes off the light. "This is..."
"Yeah." He says, eyes soft. "I know."
It was hope. Senku was always bringing you hope.
But as you watched him dimming the light, and then proceed to go back to the ground, you couldn't help but feel sad too.

You were sitting on the top of a hill, watching the moon and stars and the dark lands in front of you. You sigh as you imagine a city in that same place, lights in each building, in each street.
"What are you doing all the way out here?" A familiar voice asks from behind you. You don't turn, and you hear leaves being crushed when Senku stands above you, before sitting in the spot next to you, leaving a certain distance.
You hug your legs, placing your chin in your knees. Senku didn't say anything, but took notice of your sad eyes, your troubled expression.
"I... I miss civilization." You confess, saying the words for the first time out loud. "I miss going to school every day, I miss my friends, I miss my parents." Your heart clenched, wondering if you ever find them again. "I miss the life I had. And I can't help but think that what happened is unfair. What did we do to deserve it?" You sigh. "I love the people I met here but..." You groan, clenching your head. "It's not like I wish they were never born or anything but I... I mean..."
You stop as you feel something on your head. Senku had raised his arm, giving you a small bump with his fist on the head. You turn to look at him, wondering if you were imagining the shade of sadness that crept on his eyes.
"You don't need to explain yourself, (Y/N)." He says, his voice gentler than his normal. "What you feel is completely normal."
You feel tears in your eyes, and do your best to suppress them. You had done it for so long, surely you could continue-
"You don't need to hold it in. I... I'm here, if you would want someone like me to comfort you. Yuzuriha would be perfect for this, I wish-"
Your eyes widen as tears spill from your eyes, letting out all your feelings. You sob as you cry out, not caring if anyone could hear you.
You don't know why you expected Senku to do anything. But even so, you felt surprise within you as you felt an arm wrapping around your shoulder, cocking your head so you were resting it against his shoulder. He let his hand stay in your hair, but didn't do anything else, didn't say anything else.
You cried all you wanted, all those feelings you had been guilty of feeling, all those buried thoughts you had had after your awakening.
And despite what Senku said, you were glad he was the one by your side.
