"Good morning Ted." Jack greets as I sit down at our usual table, across from him, for breakfast with a plate of fruit and french toast.

"Morning Robert." I joke.

Jack rolls his eyes but fails to hide his smile.

"Ever since you found out my middle name was Robert, you haven't stopped calling me that." He complains.

"And I don't plan on stopping." I say shoving a strawberry in my mouth and giving him a toothy smile showing him the fruit stuck in between my teeth.

He makes a face throwing a grape at me.

"That's gross Teddy." He laughs.

"What- do I have some in my teeth?" I ask innocently. I lean over the table and bite another strawberry chewing it in face and sticking my tongue out showing him the mushy food.

"Ugh- seriously T! Stop." He scoffs pushing my face away.

"I'm sowwy J. Don't be mad. I just like annoying you." I say in a baby voice batting my eyelashes innocently.

"You—" He starts, pointing at me, "you are so lucky that I don't hate you."

"Jacky doesn't hate me? So.... he likes me?" I tease wiggling my eyebrows.

"Shut up." He dismisses.

I gasp. "You didn't deny it. Awww J you are so sw—" I get cut off by Jack throwing a spoon full of whipped cream from my plate, at my face.

"Oops. It slipped I guess." He shrugs trying to contain his laughter.

I smirk and wipe the whipped cream off my face and teleport behind him rubbing it in his hair.

I lean down to whisper in his ear.

"Y-you got a little something in your h-hair." I say with a fit of laughter.

"I will get you back T. I will get you back when you least expect it." He scowls.

I teleport across the table and pick up my plate.

"We better get cleaned up before class. You need it more than me though." I giggle.

We walk over to a trash can and dump our things. As we walk back, the rest of our group arrives— late as usual.

"Hey guysss... what happened to your hair Jack?" Daniel questions.

"Teddy happened." He rolls his eyes.

"Sorry we are extra late today. I guess we were all super tired." Sage explains.

"It's okay. We finished early and we have to go clean up before class anyways so don't wait on us." I say.

"Okay sounds good. See you lat—" Jonah gets interrupted by an announcement bell.

"Hello students. Good morning. If you didn't know, today is a special day. Each year we have an annual game of capture the flag. It is modified to help with combat training with special obstacles for each type of ability. We ask all of you, first and second years to gather in the appropriate locations. First years in the courtyard and second years in the training field. May the odds be ever in your favor." The mic clicks off. I look back at the group and they look just as clueless as I am.

"Well that was unexpected. Did you guys know about this?" Corbyn asks.

"Not until a few seconds ago." Lou laughs.

"Welp- we better get to the courtyard. You guys should get something to eat fast before we go though." I suggest.

"I got it!" Lou speaks and whooshes away to appear a second later with an armful of small snacks and a cup of fruit.

"Let's eat on the way. Everyone is already leaving." Dakota insists. The group nods and Lou passes out the food to those who were late for breakfast.

"I wonder how intense this game will be." Daniel says with a mouth full of watermelon.
He swallows and continues. "They said its for combat training. What if they make us use real weapons? They wouldn't do that would they?"

"We'll find out when we get there I guess." Amelia states.

A short walk later, we enter the courtyard which is already full of our fellow first years. Once the last of us pile in we are asked to form ten lines. To my surprise, in a few minutes, the lines are formed and not at all like the lines formed in middle school gym- you know the ones you expect from a kindergarten class.

A group of upperclassman instructors go down the lines handing out a pair of goggles and a gun. Those better not be real guns. I think to myself freaking out for a moment. The instructor for our line approaches us and hands us our items. Once handed mine, I quickly observe the gun and see no chamber. I breathe out a sigh of relief.

A few minutes pass and everyone is finally equipped with their guns and glasses.

"Welcome to your first CTF game first years! You have been given a pair of goggles and a dart gun. The goggles are all synced to your other first year's goggle. This will allow you to easily tap the side button and be able to locate your own team. Your team's goggles will light up blue and the second year's will be green. The guns are filled with small darts that will simulate the pain of a real bullet but the pain will wear of after a few minutes. Once you get hit, power down your goggles and head to the designated base where you will be sent. Through the game you will be able to retrieve items of benefit to your abilities if you need. They will be in small boxes in hard to find places to simulate a real life situation if you are in the presence of an ungifted or not able to use your abilities to your advantage. You may put on your goggles and turn them on by pressing the button on the right side. To power down when hit, take them off and side your finger across the left temple of the goggle. Good luck."

Before we have time to question a group of four instructors form a line and wave their hands. In the blink of an eye, all of us students are teleported to a big metal building with green vines and plants covering the walls. The only light coming from the few big factory lights on the ceiling.

"Welcome to CTF21. You are in your base. If you get hit or injured make your way back here and wait for help. We do not condone any life threatening violence, but defensive aggression is permitted and suggested. Remember this is for training purposes. The aim of the game is to get the green teams flag. There is a perimeter dome around the whole arena where you cannot pass. Countdown begins now." A voice announces as a countdown starts.

"5...4...3...2..." A loud buzzer sounds and a drawbridge gate slams open and thuds to the outside ground.

"Let the games begin."
