Chapter 26: On The Way Home

Basically, I'ma sum it up in a few words, the same thing happened. You'll see the jutsus Mito learned in the chunin exams but for now, this is about their adventure on the way back, which includes an Akatsuki encounter.

Naruto and Mito were trees jumping in the daylight, checking their surroundings as they did. The two were talking about Mito's strategies and how she shouldn't show her abilities with the Hiraishin, Searing Migraine, and Massive Mist Mirage jutsus, as all of them were powerful jutsus. They were discussing Mito's strategies when both of their heads turned left, sensing two masses of Chakra coming at them. Naruto kicked Mito lightly in the side, sending her away as he dodged two jutsus fired at him. "Well well well, if it isn't Kisame Hoshigaki and Itachi Uchiha," Naruto said. The two looked at Naruto. "Leader-Sama assigned us to take you in again," Itachi said monotonously. Naruto knew why Itachi didn't deny it though, he wanted to go back to the leaf. Naruto smirked. "Bring it! Mito, take on Kisame. You two have about the same chakra levels now," Naruto said. Mito and Kisame both let out grins, Kisame's being shark-like Ba-dump Crash and Mito's grin was more fox-like.  The two pulled out their preferred weapons, Mito's being her Shadow Tanto from Naruto and Kisame's being Samehada. The two dashed at each other, grins still evident. Samehada came flying down at Mito, who slashed upward with the shadow tanto. She then threw it at Kisame, who hit it away, only for Mito to hiraishin to it and stab Kisame in the back, before Kisame whipped around and kicked her side, sending her flying. Mito winced as she landed, barely able to reinforce her body with chakra on time. She then focused her mind and green chakra began surrounding her. She had unintentionally opened the first gate of opening. Kisame smirked, knowing he would get to have some fun. The two started making hand signs. "WATER STYLE! WATER SHARK BULLETS!" Kisame yelled as he pointed Samehada at Mito, signalling the water sharks to launch at Mito and follow. Mito smirked and was weaving hand signs as she ran. "EARTH STYLE! EARTHEN SHARK HUNTERS!" She yelled. Kisame's eyes widened as several ogre-like creatures caught the sharks in mid-air and ate them, increasing their size. He weaved through more hand signs, "Ninja art, Hidden in the mist jutsu!" He called out. Mito grunted. She knew the great breakthrough but Kisame was known for his dense and powerful chakra, so she probably couldn't disperse it. So she did the next best thing, she jumped high into the air. Kisame noticed Mito being suspended in mid-air and Mito smirked as Samehada cut through her and she dissolved into mist. Kisame realized what happened. "KAI!" He yelled. He saw that he was being held down by the golems that ate his sharks. "Massive Mist Mirage, shouldn't have done your hidden in the mist jutsu," Mito said, smirking. Kisame grunted. He made a water clone without hand signs and replaced himself with it, before dispersing it. "You're pretty good, for a kid. But you won't be able to beat me," Kisame said, smirking. He didn't want to reveal his trump card yet. "WATER STYLE! RAIN OF WATER BULLETS!" Kisame yelled out as a hail of water bullets formed by his chakra came down on Mito. "Man no wonder why you're called the tailless beast, your chakra capacity is enormous!" Mito said in awe before remembering the fight. "Oh well, EARTH STYLE! PROTECTIVE EARTH DOME!" Mito yelled out as a dome of compact, reinforced earth covered her and everything in a ten-foot radius. 

Kisame grunted as he saw the dome come up. He figured it was going to be a pain to deal with and sighed. He weaved through more hand signs. "ONE THOUSAND SHARKS JUTSU!" He yelled out. A thousand water sharks splashed against the earth dome, weakening it significantly. He then charged and sliced the dome with Samehada, who ate the chakra and the dome collapsed, revealing a Mito Uzumaki stone clone. Kisame on instinct raised his left arm and felt a foot make contact with it before he felt a slight pressure and a bush rustle, signifying she backed off. He hefted his sword and closed his eyes, spreading out his chakra to feel for where Mito was. He then took out a kunai from under his cloak and threw it at where he felt Mito's chakra come from. He heard the familiar thump of a kunai hitting flesh and Mito came running out, kunai in her shoulder. She pulled it out and threw it back at Kisame, before working on healing her shoulder with the level four medical ninjutsu Naruto taught her for basic flesh wounds. She then threw several other kunai and made a hand sign, "Ninja art, explosive kunai clone jutsu!" Mito yelled. Kisame raised the flat of his sword and Samehada took the brunt of the damage while Mito smirked. Kisame heard the hiss of a bomb and his eyes widened as his back was exploded. He grunted and ran back slightly, getting ready for the upcoming clone ambush he was planning.

Mito noticed Kisame run and made a clone to chase him while she devised a plan. She figured Kisame would have some trap set, so she was ready to release the new level of gravity seals and leave. She realized her clone popped and learned Kisame had set an explosion trap. She smirked, remembering how she always gave clones ashes and blood for explosive traps. She jumped in a bush and saw Kisame walk out of the woods smirking. "Guess the brat's common sense sucked like hell! Too bad too, she was good!" Kisame said to himself. As soon as he turned to go help Itachi with Naruto, he felt a kunai get shoved up his ass. "But how!" He exclaimed in surprise, knowing full well who did it. Mito shook a clear jug of ashes. "YOU TRICKY BITCH!" Kisame yelled as he started jumping away. "I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME!" He yelled.

Naruto had just finished the scene where Itachi's death would be faked when he sensed a mass of chakra coming. He immediately grabbed Itachi and put him in a prisoner seal before acting like he was slightly drained of chakra. Kisame's eyes widened. He saw an Itachi that had blood running out of both sides of his mouth and his eyes were taken out. Blood was pouring out of the skull and he ran, knowing the girl would be coming soon. Naruto then released Itachi from the prisoner seal and the three nodded before shunshinning back to the village, intent on preparing for the troublesome meeting to follow.
