I often wonder why our hearts chase after those
who would rather pretend we don't exist
instead of reciprocity of the love we give.
I often wonder maybe it's because
we expect too much happiness
and indirectly invite the devastation and sorrow
that come with it.
It's a buy one get one free deal after all
expect the great only to be left with emptiness inside
or hope for the worst and we're rewarded with all the goods.
It wouldn't be easy
but the only way to withdraw from this deal
is acceptance.
No high hopes.
No expectations.
No broken heart to be distressed and feel miserable.
No overwhelming joy to be greedy for more.
Just warm acceptance.
In the end
you might just get everything you've longed for.
