Derek ended up being a lot more helpful than he had appeared in the show, but that honestly might be because I actually wanted his help and wasn't a dick to him like Scott and Stiles had been. In the end he taught me a breathing technique that would help me from losing my temper, and even explained that as a newly turned werewolf my senses were heightened, and my body was changing on a chemical level which would explain why I had been forgetting some things since my body and mind were in overdrive concerning the change. I hadn't even been aware the change went that deep or really took that long to take effect which was a stupid moment on my part.
"Mars," whispered Derek later that night outside my window causing my head to jerk toward it in surprise and away from the books splayed out upon my bed.
"I need you to come with me now."
My brow furrowed but knowing Derek wasn't the type to waste time or ask me to come with him if it wasn't important left me throwing the covers back, and covering up the books, as I slipped on my running shoes thankful I had thrown on a pair of my pink knee high socks earlier as I did so. I ignored the look he was giving me considering what I was wearing as I ambled to the window snagging my phone and tossing it to him to place inside his leather jacket as he jumped down.
"Thank you," I offered with a raised eyebrow as I jumped from the window only for him to catch me bridal style before I could twist and land on my feet.
"Now whats the problem? Also, you are so lucky Stiles is at Scott's at the moment."
"I wanted to help you learn to control the shift," answered Derek even as he shrugged out of his jacket and tossed it over my shoulders with a warning look.
What was with the men in my life freaking out over me showing a bit of skin!?
"Once you can control the shift you wont have as much trouble with your anger and emotions."
"Then what are we waiting for?" I asked more than ready to be able to have control back of my emotions.
Scott had called Stiles over and from what I could hear it was over him freaking out because the bite mark on his side had disappeared

Derek had ended up taking me further into the reserve away from any other person, but it also reminded me of another issue that could be a serious problem. The Argent family had purposely led Derek here in order to kill him after allowing the police to find Laura's body and having even gone so far as to cut her in two. It made me wonder if Peter even killed her or if the Argent's had.
"We might have another issue," I spoke up with some hesitation knowing his personal issues with the Argent family. "A new girl joined my school and her name is Allison Argent and I vaguely remember you mentioning an Argent family that hunts our kind."
"We need to leave," agreed Derek as he froze in place for a brief moment before stalking forward to grab my arm and begin to haul be back toward the car.
"You should have told me this before we got out here!"
"It slipped my mind," I defended even as I began to rant at myself in my mind over letting myself forget that important detail.
"Shit!"
That curse left me as Derek surged forward and threw me to the ground as he landed on top of me as his hand slammed over my mouth to quiet my breathing as his eyes glowed a bright blue while he listened to all the noises around us. We had been lucky to be walking near a creek that had a raised area sort of like a tiny cliff we could hide near.
"Hale isn't stupid enough to come all the way out here after the death of his sister," called out a male voice toward another as I also listened to their footsteps crunch through dried leaves and rocks. "We would be better rigging up and checking the burnt house than out here."
"That would be his first thought," scoffed another that sounded similar to that of Chris Argent from the TV show. "Now be quiet if he is out here than he has already heard us approaching."
My fear skyrocketed as my nails dug into Derek's forearms as my wide eyes met his glowing ones as it all hit me. I could die tonight without my dad or Stiles even being aware that I wasn't even at home. My chest began to heave with my budding panic as my nails lengthened to claws and I began to go through a partial shift as the book described that was mentioned more as the only shift in the show.
"Breath," rumbled Derek at a soft deep octave that humans wouldn't be able to hear. "Sync your breathing and heartbeat to mine."
I did just as he had asked and squeezed my eyes shut blocking out the golden glow of my wolf eyes as I took in a shuddering breath as I tuned out everything but Derek and that of his breathing and heartbeat that now seemed to be thudding in my ears. His advice worked as I began to calm down in minutes leaving my slumped upon the ground under him even as I sought out the safety, he offered by pressing up close against his chest with my head tucked under his chin.
"There doesn't seem to be anything out here," sighed the second voice. "Tell the others to call off the search for the night and to pack it up. Derek Hale has likely to return to Beacon Hills just yet."
"Roger that," answered the first voice as they began to get further away.
"What a way to waste the night away man."
