Stiles ended up staying with me for a bit longer before heading off to his own room to get some sleep before school tomorrow. A part of me hoped that for once, after this, Stiles would start to take my side and actually listen to me. But a bigger part of me knew that Scott would likely come first. I ended up tossing and turning for most of the night to the point that by three in the morning I was awake and getting ready to head out for a run.
"You are up early," commented Scott as he ended up joining me on my run making me bite my tongue. "Have you been avoiding me Mars?"
"It isn't all about you Scott," I couldn't help but scoff as I picked up the pace even as he easily kept up with me. "And I wasn't aware you could see past Allison to notice I wasn't around much to be honest."
"Don't be like that Mars," begged Scott tiredly as he finally snagged a hold of my arm to pull me to a stop.
"I am not into Allison like that and honestly considering the fact your group has her being exiled from others, well I thought she needed a friend."
"Did you ever wonder if maybe there was a reason as to why I didn't care for her?" I asked as I yanked my arm free from his hold.
"That maybe she isn't the nice girl she makes herself out to be and that she isn't safe to be around for us."
"You cannot blame the child for the sins of their parents," scolded Scott making a choked hysteric laugh leave me. "Stiles texted me last night to tell me everything you had told him about the Argent's."
"Of course, he did," I said with a shake of my head as my temper began to rise and a snarl built up in my throat. "Because there isn't a moment that he hasn't put you first."
"Is there a problem?" called out Derek as he pulled up beside us in his car eyes looking between Scott and me.
His voice caught our attention and while Scott glared, I sent Derek a warm thankful smile as I moved to walk up to his car only for Scott grabbed my arm once more.
"Scott let me go," I said softly placing my hand on top of his. "You want to believe that the pretty girl you are crushing on is a nice girl, then so be it. Just don't expect me to be there on the side lines watching."
Neither Stiles nor Scott had been aware of it, but in a way, Scott had become my first real crush in this world. He had been so different to what he had been like in the TV show, and now he was proving to me that he isn't, he is exactly the same.
"Please Mars," began Scott as his hand tightened around my arm. "Just give me a chance to explain."
"Let her go," ordered Derek as he climbed out of his car and stalked toward us face in a dark scowl. "She has asked you nicely, so I won't say it again McCall, let her go."
Scott gave me one more pleading look before a crest fallen look appeared as he let go of my arm and took a step back. Maybe I was being too hard upon him, but I couldn't help comparing him to the one I knew from a TV show and remembering how Allison would be the start of the end for Stiles who would be left behind broken.
"Come on Mars," said Derek as he gently placed a hand upon my back and led me to the passenger side of his car. "I can give you a ride home to get cleaned up and ready for school if you want."
"Thanks," I said softly with a trembling smile as I climbed into the car giving Scott another look as he just stood there watching me.
"Go home Scott."
Derek didn't bother saying anything to Scott just sent him another displeased glare before getting into the driver side of the car and then speeding off. We stayed silent as Derek drove us back to my house, and a part of me wondered if he could smell Peter's scent clinging to me, even after my morning shower.
"You went and saw my uncle," stated Derek making my shoulders slump and a tired smile pull at my lips as my head rested against the window.
"I can smell him on you."
"You need to speak with him Derek," I said with a shake of my head and a sigh as I lifted my head to look at him. "Because there is a lot you don't know.
And we already know that it was likely the Argent's who killed your sister leaving the Alpha Spark to go to the closest werewolf here in Beacon Hills."
"I know," stated Derek tiredly as he pulled up to my house and put the car into park before facing me. "But Laura and I left him behind Mars, and a part of me will always feel guilty over doing it, when I knew the Argent's were still here when we ran.
I didn't even call the place to keep an ear out for how he was doing. And now there is a possibility that he is awake, and the new Alpha, and I don't know how to face that yet. But I know I will go see him soon."
"You know you can call me if you need to talk," I said gently reaching out to take his hand into my own. "You have been here for me and helping me learn how to control my anger and the shifts, so if you need me, I will be there."
Derek gave me a small smile that seemed to say everything he couldn't as he leaned over to place a kiss to my forehead. Today had started horribly but now as I got out of the car and headed inside, it felt like it was going to get better.
