When I wake up, Kirstie lays beside me, her lips slightly parted, hair askew. I'm once again taken back by my beautiful girlfriend. I stroke her hair softly. She wiggles around, and arches her back.
"Avi," she moans. Oh, she's having one of those kinds of dreams. She jolts out of sleep when I kiss her forehead.
"How was your dream?" I ask, my voice husky from sleep. She shivers.
"Fine. By the way, your morning voice may be the sexiest thing ever."
"I know what your dream was about. Thirsty Kirstie?"
"Maybe."
"We're telling the boys today. They're coming over in," I check my phone. "Five minutes."
"Five minutes?" Kirstie shot up. She frantically whipped her hands around the sheets, but I grabbed her wrists, and pinned her down to the bed.
"It's fine, babe." I kiss her gently, and she relaxes.
"How are we supposed to tell them?"
I look up. "Maybe we could just say 'Guys, we're dating'."
"Yeah. Lets go wait."
I sit on the couch, my arm lazily slung over the back. She sits in the armchair, and I look her over. Her blonde hair is sticking out in so many places, her eyes droopy from sleep. I smile. She's beautiful. A knock comes at the door, and all three stand there.
"We have big news," Kirstie clasps her hands together.
"We're dating," I look around. Mitch smirks at me, Scott gestures his head towards the kitchen, and Kevin looks at us with wide eyes.
"No way you guys!" Kevin claps me on the back.
"Scott, I need you to help me with something in the kitchen."
"Dating?" Scott says after reaching the kitchen. "You made it further than I did."
"You should tell him," I place a hand on his shoulder.
"I don't know how."
"Just say what comes from the heart."
"How did you tell Kirstie?"
I catch my chin between my fingers, "She told me."
"Ugh, this is getting me nowhere."
"I'm going to let you in on a little secret."
"Oh?"
"If you feel this strongly about him, it's only going to hurt you if you keep it in."
"You really do give the best relationship advice," he claps me on the shoulder. We walk into the living room. Kirstie had put on a movie, but went to change.
"I have to grab my phone," I walk into the bedroom. Kirstie's in the bathroom, so I grab my clothes and change right there. I go into the bathroom to fix my hair, and Kirstie's in the shower. I momentarily admire her outline. Her arms are reaching to her hair, her back arched. I brush my hair and walk out.
"Hey Scott, can I talk to you about something, alone?" Mitch pulls him into the kitchen.
"So, you two are living together?" Kevin smiles.
"Yeah. Do you have a lucky lady?"
"Well, I have a crush on this girl," he smiles and looks at his hands.
"Yeah? Are you two doing a collab?"
"Yeah. Her name is Tori."
"The Tori? Tori Kelly?"
"Yeah. I don't know if she likes me."
"But you like her?"
"Yeah."
"And you're going to ask her out?"
"Yeah."
"Kirstie's going to be so happy."
"Why?" he laughs.
"You throw your entirety into music, and she wants you to be happy with your romantic life."
"That's sweet of her," Kevin smiles slightly.
"Avi?" Kirstie calls, and I walk back.
"Yes baby?" I walk in.
"Could you help me make the bed?" she asks, and I pull the corner taut. She kisses my cheek, and walks out of the room. Mitch and Scott haven't come out of the kitchen yet, so I decide to eavesdrop.
"Scott, I don't know how I feel," Mitch says.
"Mitch, I know how I feel."
"I know I like you."
"Will you give me a chance?"
"Scott, you're the guy everyone loves. How will I know someone might come along that's more appealing. You could have anyone. Why me?"
"Why you? Because I love the way you are. I love how you step on ice because you like the way it sounds under your feet. I love the way I can make you laugh during every Superfruit. I love how when you wake up, you wake me up to go get Starbucks. I love the way you text me non stop when I take time to respond. Mitch, will you give me a chance?" Scott pleads.
"Scott," Mitch cries. I look up, and their engulfed in a hug, Mitch's head resting on Scott's shoulder.
"So is that a yes?"
"Yes!" Mitch laughs. I go sit on the couch next to Kirstie. Mitch walks out, and Scott follows at his tail. I cock my head to the side, and he nods a yes. I sigh, and move closer into the couch.
"Well," Kevin slaps his knees. "I have to go meet someone."
"We have to get home," Scott says, and stands up. They all walked out the door.
"Avi?"
"Yes babe?"
"Can I kiss you? It's been torture."
I meet her lips with mine. We kiss and kiss and kiss. When she pulls away for air, I latch her lips back onto mine. She walks out of my grasp, and makes a phone call.
"So," she sits on the couch next to me. "I just got roped into babysitting."
"Who?"
"Your niece."
"Oh? Little Emma?"
"Yeah. She will sleep the whole time."
"Yeah."
"I love you," she hums.
"I love you too." I mean it with my whole heart.
