Demon Vampire
Standing near the diner, he payed close attention. Romero knew it was all in the timing. It was getting harder and harder to find a decent meal anymore. The vampire waited for the customers to leave the establishment. Romero was a patient one, years of practice would do that to you. He didn't mind waiting for his food. Unlike the twisted ones of his kind, he didn't torment or play with his meal. It was senseless. If you're not going to turn the mortal you're feeding from, have the decency to be quick about it. He was disgusted by some of the others he'd known. Just over three hundred and fifty years old, he'd known some truly wicked vampires, ghouls and other supernatural beings. He never looked for others, but you run into them from time to time.
His memory brought up Marrow, a vampire that would torture them, scaring the feeble human half out of his mind before draining them to the point of death. It made Romero want to vomit. He didn't torture them, but would feed quickly, unlike Marrow, who would torment them for days, filling them with false hope that the poor thing might survive. It was undignified. He may kill humans for food, but he never over indulge, never toyed with the mortal. He might have been the only vampire with morals, but he didn't give a shit. Soon his thoughts shifted back to the diner. He watched the people close up for the nightHe watched the lights go out, the young looking waitress leave. He waited until Dylan, the cook came out of the cozy little diner. The guy was of large muscular build, with light hair and complexion. He had not been singled out for any specific reason. Just wrong place and time, nothing more. He'd always worked nights, but this would be the last time he'd need to worry about it. Tonight his fate would be changed. Just before he was in position to strike, he'd been interrupted.
Standing behind him, some scavenger looking demon waited. As this happened, the cook got away from the gruesome fate. The vampires' eyes glowed orange with fury.
"You just cost me my morning snack, whatever you want had better be important."
After a long pause, the demon spoke up...
"It was not my intention to cost you a meal, I'm sorry for that.I'm Syluss."
"As If you give a damn... Romero is my name."
"Will you put the fangs away?"
"What do you want, you underworld sewer rat?"
"I'd like a favor."
"Are you kidding me?"
"Please? I'm desperate."
"Why is it I know I'll regret this?"
After a long moment shaking his head the vampire glared at him. "What do you want from me?"
"I wish to possess one of your..meals."
"It would only send you right back to the underworld."
"Not if you turn the human."
"Why?"
"I have business to take care of."
"I'll get back to you." Romero told him, then disappeared into the shadows.
Syluss stood there, frustrated. Damn vampires, always being over dramatic. Why do they always have to do the dramatic exit? They were strange creatures. He was used to dealing with demons, not blood sucking Don Juans. He knew better than to tell Romero the real reason he needed help. He knew better than to reveal the whole truth, especially to a vampire he'd known all of five minutes. Even though he was a demon, his intentions were of the purest kind. He hadn't gone to another demon, it would have been of no use. They didn't understand emotion, sympathy or vulnerability. They were ruthless creatures trained in showing no mercy. They couldn't understand his pain.
In the underworld he had been content with his existence. He had the one thing he needed. His mate, Jayelle. He was fine, happy. Feeling as if he were on earth living a good life, until fate had to intervene. The stupid angel of mercy had forgiven her of all earthly crimes. She was immediately reincarnated on earth. Science that moment he'd been plotting and planning his way back to her. Even if she had no idea who he was, hye just needed to see her one more time. To make sure she was okay. He had nothing left but hope and a strong desire to find his Dark Goddess.
