    Part 3

Romero spent the next several days with Syluss. He had a code to exist by. If you turn a creature, you look out for them, helping them learn to survive before releasing them to fend for themselves. He did all that he could think of to help Syluss adjust to being a demon-vampire in the earthly realm. He had been patient with the demon, who'd only worry had been Jayelle. Going crazy with worry, what if her time was up and she were back in the underworld; meaning he'd done all of it for nothing. He refused to believe he was trapped here without her for eternity.

He stayed with Romero to ease the vampire, nothing more. He'd asked for a tremendous favor from him, so he felt it best to comply with the vampire until he could reach Jayelle. He thought having the vampire as an ally may be of use later on. He was trapped here for eternity, one day his survival may be dependent upon it.

After a few more nights, the vampire released him, wishing him luck in his hunt for love. He'd even invited him to return, even if he didn't find Jayelle, he had somewhere to go. Syluss thanked him, hoping he wouldn't need to take him up on the invite.

Syluss had no idea how to start looking for her, where or even when she was born on earth. He knew this would be difficult, however when he found her it would all be worth it. Whenever he became discouraged, her thought came to mind. Reminding him it was all for her. If he tried really hard maybe he could sense her. Forcing all of his concentration, but still came up with nothing. Angry, he kicked a tree stump like a soccer ball, uprooting it from the ground with ease. It seemed that it wasn't all that bad being trapped inside a freshly turned vampire.

He honestly didn't care what happened to him as long as his mate was doing okay. He hunted through different cities and small town at night, sleeping in caves and mausoleums in the day. He spent weeks searching for her like this, getting nowhere, leaving a trail of blood in his wake as he fed. He followed Romero's example, feed when you need to, not enough for them to notice. Over the next few nights, he did everything he could think of to find her; it was driving him insane. Not knowing where she was, or if she was still alive or not. That night he traveled back to see the vampire. He needed a little help. Romero was more than a little surprised to see Syluss on his doorstep.

"What happened?"

"I can't find her, I've looked everywhere."

"Get in here, I'll do what I can, but no promises, got it?"

"I owe you so much, how can I repay you?" Syluss said, worry written in his black eyes.

"You can't repay me, don't try to either..You are in my debt and in need... That seems to make you my friend."

After a silent moment Romero looked at him with pity.

"I'll show you how to track a person's essence with your mind."

"You can seriously do that?"

"Yes."

He led Syluss into the basement of the mansion, sat him down. Then handed him several vampiric spell books. Then began explaining inner power to him, showing him how to sense where her soul had been reborn into. Over the next several weeks, Syluss began learning how to harness this inner power. It was difficult for him, frustrating but he kept on. He had to make it work, there was too much at stake. He stopped working only long enough to feed.

He closed his eyes and tried again and again, when he felt something stir. It was faint but he had felt something. He followed that strange feeling. Running through different cities at night, resting just before the light. Each evening he repeated the ritual, sensing her essence and following it like a hellhound. He was going to find her, no matter what it would take.

Searching over the next three months, ready to give up. Feeling beat down and broken; he didn't know what to do. Roaming the earth, it had finally sunk in. He had nothing left. He was never going to find her. Cursed to live out eternity in this god forsaken realm, wandering the earth for eternity. He wanted to kill something, or someone. Filled with rage, knowing he'd cursed himself. He didn't belong here. Then the next thing he knew, from within him; a massive surge of inner power burst through. It could only be described as a vampire and demon magickal force. He felt it pull, guiding hijm to an all night coffee bar. Strange, he didn't drink coffee, even if he were a human, he still wouldn't touch the stuff. Then Romero's words rang through his mind. Even if you don't understand it, follow the instinct. It will make sense to you later. So he went with it, going into the little coffee place and found a seat in the back. He just watched, waiting to see what would happen. This realm was bizarre, he didn't think he'd ever understand it.

Once again he felt it, like a lightning bolt to the insides. Looking around the shop, he didn't see her, but felt he was close. Somewhere near here. Maybe if she wasn't in the shop today, perhaps she'd be in another day? Perhaps he should come in, eventually she'd stop in and he'd be waiting for her. He just hoped this theory would work. Each night he went to the coffee house, each night he felt she was in close proximity. He went on like this for weeks. Then as if by some miracle, he felt the power surge through him like an explosion. He looked up and saw a young girl, possibly nineteen? She was attractive, pale with dark eyes and jet black curls that went on forever. He couldn't believe it. Was it her? Did all of his mind numbing work pay off?

Had he found his Dark Goddess? She was dressed in gothic attire. Layed blue and black top with black pleather pants, matched with leather spike heeled boots. He couldn't believe it, could it really be her? He waited for her to find a seat, then knew the maddening sense he felt told him, it was definitely her. He needed this to go well. If she rejected him, that would be a fate worse than death. He simply needed to go talk to her. Nervous yet wanting to laugh at himself, a demon and vampire hybrid; acting like a fifteen year old boy with a crush on the hot girl. He was more powerful than anything on earth and he was procrastinating a conversation. Shaking the thought and worry away from his mind, walking slowly to her table. Standing there he waited for her to look up. A few seconds later she did, eyes seemed to sparkle and he smiled. He took this as a good sign, so far. Eventually she spoke first.

"Hi, do I know you? I don't think we have met but.. I sense that I know you."

"I'm Syluss."

"I am Katrine."

She invited him to sit with her. He of course accepted. Katrine didn't know why she'd invited this guy to sit with her. Usually she was more selective with people. He was different though, she felt as If she knew him before; in a different time maybe? A firm believer in reincarnation, but she didn't really know why. It was as if her soul knew him. It was if his soul held a dark mystery to it, making her all the more intrigued. She push these thoughts into the attic of her mind, to be sorted later. Some how she felt he was like her, a darker soul than most. More than happy to get to know him, he seemed older than her, but not too old. There was something about him she seemed to read, like he was an open book but only for her.

He smiled at her often, seeing her with his demon powers. It was his Jayelle. He was so far past happy, thinking at any moment he might burst. It was going well, there seemed to be a burst of magick between them. Even if she didn't see it yet, in time she will. He was going to have to get used to calling her Katrine. After a while she looked at him, leaned in and kissed him with a force of passion she'd never known before. She couldn't believe it. Staying there with him until the last possible moment that she had to go. She wrote down all of her information, then kissed him again with electrifying force, it was amazing. It was so strange for her. She knew in her soul she could trust him but didn't know why.

He was ecstatic with joy. He found her. The earth could burst into flames around him and he wouldn't even notice. Nothing else mattered.
