Romerio spent the next several days with Syluss. He had a code to live by. If you change a mortal, you looked out for them, showed them how to survive before letting them fend for themselves. He had brought the demon-vampire back to his mansion for the first few days after the change. He had to talk the him into it. It was no easy task. He fought him about it until he had no strength left to fight with.

Over the next few days, Romerio did all that he could to help him adjust to the earthly plane of existence. Romerio showed a lot of patience with Syluss who's only thoughts were on Jayelle. He was going stir crazy with worry. What if her time was up? What if she was back home in the underworld? What if he had done this all of this for nothing? He refused to believe it. He could not bear the thought that he had done this for nothing. He refused to believe he would roam the earth for eternity without her.

He stayed with Romerio to ease the vampire, nothing more than that. He had asked the vampire a favor, a rather large favor. He wanted only to comply until he reached his Jayelle. He did whatever Romerio ask of him. He did whatever it would take to get on with it. He figured if he played nice with the vampire it would pay off better in the long run. In case he was too late. If his love had died in this life, he would know someone in this miserable existence. He was depressing himself. He knew he would need to keep the vampire as a close ally. His survival may depend on it.

After a few more nights, the vampire released him, wishing him luck. He nodded and thanked him for all of his help. He had even invited the demon-vampire to return sometime, even if he didn't find his mate, he still had a place to go. He appreciated that. Syluss just hoped he wouldn't need to use that invitation. He hugged Romerio goodbye before fleeing into the darkness. Romerio hoped that the demon vampire would be alright out there.

Humans were not brutal anymore, but they had gotten more intelligent over the last few centuries, he had noticed that much. He hoped that his new ally of darkness would not need his help. He could track other world creatures anytime he wanted, he felt this was information Syluss did not need to know.

He only told the demon vampire what he needed to know, nothing more. He left out anything that did not directly affect him. He had worked with demons before but not many of them. Not enough to trust any of them, not completely. He had kept things with Syluss on a need to know basis. If he didn't need to know it, Romerio did not tell him. He had not known if Syluss was telling him the truth or not. He had believed the demon, but he did not know for certain if he were up to no good.

Syluss had no idea how to start looking for her, he didn't know where she was born or exactly when. He knew this mission would be difficult. If he found her it would be well worth it all. Whenever he got discouraged here, he would remind himself of it. It was all for Jayelle which made it all worth every second on this forsaken existence. If he found her, that was all that mattered. He began to think for a moment. He was sure if he tried hard enough he could sense her. He tried several times and came up with nothing.

He forcefully kicked a tree stump, uprooting it from the ground with lightning forced speed. He was filled with a rage like he had never felt before. It was probably a vampire thing. He wasn't sure. He had not known of many demons that had become trapped inside a freshly turned vampire. It wasn't exactly like taking over a mortal. It was a lot different. It wasn't all that bad being trapped inside a supernatural body.

He did not care what happened to him as long as his soul mate was okay that was all that mattered to him. His love for her was all that mattered in this existence or any other. Her well-being was all he cared about. Even if she did not know who he really was, even if she hated him, it was fine as long as she was safe. He didn't care about the rest of his existence. He needed only to find her, but how? He kept asking himself over and over again, it was maddening to him.
