He had to think. He wanted to help the demon out, but he did not want to burn himself in the process. What if this demon was out for revenge? These thoughts and countless others rushed through him like a tidal wave. He knew he was damned, but it did not mean he would assist in the damnation of other souls. He was stuck at a crossroad now. Romerio knew himself well, he knew he would most likely end up helping the demon, but was he going to regret doing so?
He was almost sure this would somehow end very badly. He did not know how or why but he knew with Syluss there would be trouble. Demons had never done anything out of the goodness of their hearts. The demon must have needed him for something pretty important, but what? Romerio was aggravated with the entire mess.
He was already sick of thinking of the issue with the demon, let alone actually dealing with it. He still didn't know what to say to Syluss, or if he really should be helping him. He didn't know why the demon needed his help; he almost didn't want to know. Then wondering if the dark ones had it in for him or not. You'd be surprised at how often that happens. There were a few who by no fault of their own, became consumed by the dark powers, were prisoners of it.
The same time that Romerio was lost in his own mind, Syluss was fuming. Where was the vampire, and why did he need to think about it? What did he care what happens to a mortal; to him they were his food. Syluss could never understand the dramatic part of a vampire, bloodthirsty monster with morals? Come on now, he thought. He was a mess and wanted an answer long before now. He was not patient to begin with, but this was ridiculous, he thought to himself in frustration. Why was the vampire taking so long to give him a straight answer? It was maddening to him.
He never understood the upper realm creatures, not just vampires, ghost and supernatural beings roaming the earth, but humans. They had to think about everything, all thought, no actions. It was an irritating trait, the whole thing boiled down to free will. What a pain in the universe. Even now he must have been on earth too long because he was doing it as well. Just sitting here in a cave beyond the land, thinking. He hated it here, but he needed Jayelle. He needed to just make sure her current incarnation was not miserable, and then he would slip back into the underworld and wait for her to return.
He could not help but sulk around the cave; had nothing better to do and no word from the only one that could help him, the vampire. He hated to need help from anyone; he was a very self-reliant demon. He did not care for other creatures besides his mate, Jayelle. Why did they have to forgive her and make me come up here?
He liked his place down below; his things were there, his memories. He was born a demon. He had rarely seen the outside of the underworld. He liked his home, nice and warm. He was content there, but no some angel of mercy had to screw that up for him. Now he had to find his mate, ensure she was safe without him by her side. He was not real happy with fate at the moment.
Out of frustration Syluss put his fist through the cave wall. It hurt, but not enough to make him care about the pain. He was of demon rank, little things like pain and suffering did not matter to him. Until he knew of Jayelle, nothing mattered. He just hated being at the mercy of anyone else, especially a vampire. What was taking so long? All he needed to do is let him have the human after he turns it. What was the problem here? He thought, frustrated and impatient.
