Dinner had ended rather abruptly as Jiwoo's parents had paid for their food & left the restaurant, beginning to head home to avoid any more useless conversation. Minji & Haeun had gone out to do the same. Except, it was a bit more... aggressive.
Grabbed by her hair & shoved inside her home, Minji had let out a quiet groan as she dug her nails & gripped Haeun's hand. She had carved her claws in so deep, droplets of blood began slowly seeping out.
- Minji! - Haeun shouted after letting out a quiet gasp.
She sucked in air through her teeth, feeling the pain begin to spread into territories of her body far from her hand.
Yet, instead of focusing on the discomfort the tiny wounds caused, she had turned her attention to Minji once more. Haeun stood before her daughter, refusing the urge to stomp her foot into the ground as her nails dug their way through her skin. Her palm was almost bleeding the same way the back of her hand was doing these past few seconds.
- Minji, for the last time, I have had enough of your behaviour!
- YOU HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF MY BEHAVIOUR?! YOU WERE THE ONE MAKING A SCENE AT THE RESTAURANT!
- Well, I'm sorry that all of you are blinded by Yejun's stupid decisions her-
Haeun's words had been forced to an end as the sound of feet stumbling backwards on a hardwood floor distracted her. The feeling of tumbling & losing balance diverted her attention away from Minji & into the focus of not falling on the floor.
As Haeun caught herself mid-air in the fall, a short but dreaded silence had dropped in between the two women.
- NO! I'M THE ONE WHO'S FEAD UP WITH YOUR BEHAVIOUR, HAEUN. I'M THE ONE WHO'S IN PAIN BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO
APOLOGISE! I'M THE ONE WHO'S IN PAIN BECAUSE YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT ME OR ABOUT ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER!
Minji could've gone off & on about every single horrid thing she had been told by Haeun. She could've screamed about the pain & agony her mother caused to others. Minji could've cried to her about the things she deals with inside her head due to the awful way she was raised.
- Minji, please-
- YOU NEVER LISTEN TO ME! YOU HAVE NEVER TRIED TO TALK TO ME! YOU BARELY EVER GIVE ME PRIVACY, AND I'M THE ONE WHO'S IN THE WRONG HERE?!
- W-Well! Y-You have yelled at me! You have cursed at me! You also push me away and never try to speak with me! I found you smoking a few days ago!
- WELL HOLY FUCKING SHIT, I FUCKING WONDER WHY! HOW IS YOU OVERREACTING OVER SOMEONE'S GENDER IDENTITY MY FAULT?!
The little—no, massive things that had been left between each other. Left to be solved for another day that never came, now it was pilling upon each other. Now, it was so clear to both of them what they hated about each other.
Yet, there was still a lonely thread that held their relationship together. A thread so thin & small, a single gust of wind could break everything off. That had been: a hand-made bracelet Minji was currently wearing.
Decked out in red & black material with fake diamonds in the middle, such a simple yet complex bracelet had been crafted by Hayun & given to Minji when she was just a mere fetus. While the accessory was quite old, it held out a surprisingly long time.
Haeun had cherished that bracelet like it was a vital organ of her's. It was as if it was an item that would end her life the moment she'd lose it. While, to Minji here, it was the opposite.
There was no shred of a second thought flashing through Minji's mind. Heck, her mind wasn't even thinking at that moment. Everything Minji did, she did while relying on her instincts. Using her lizard brain, one might say.
Minji's finger's wrapped harshly around the material of the bracelet & tore it from the wrist. She had done that, using the same moves, motions Haeun had while tearing apart those dance academy papers.
Red had always been Minji's favourite colour & yet she hated how the hue looked on the small trinket.
There were no positive feelings fulled into the accessory. It had been cursed with the emotions of loathing, wrath, fury, detestation & agony.
Agony.
Agony was what Minji felt as the bracelet fell to the floor. It didn't even make a sound while hitting the ground.
Taking a sudden step back, Haeun flinched to the sound & sight of seeing the black wristband break apart. It sliced through her heart even more as it didn't make a single noise while falling. There wasn't anything to listen to. Just like how there hadn't been any love poured into the bracelet itself.
Haeun gasped for a breath of air that barely even entered her throat. She couldn't even comprehend the feeling of a hot, salty liquid falling down her skin.
The mother's heart pounded & throbbed in her heart. It pulsed in ways she never knew her heart could. Int that same moment, there a rapid difficulty of breathing appeared. Even moving seemed like a heavy task to complete.
There was an unbearably sharp blade slice through her body. That blade resembles a feeling the mother had felt multiple times in her life. Yet, this time, its strength had been unmatched with any other times she's experienced it.
- M-minji, w-wh- what? How? Why-, - Haeun only managed to stutter in her words.
There wasn't a second where her voice hadn't been swallowed by a void so unfathomable. What was happening to her?
- H-how, why did you d-do that?...
- I'm sick of this. Mum. I'm tired and sick of this pain you cause. Can't you see that? Can you not see how much you've done to so many people? None of it is good. None of it had ever been good.
Haeun stayed quiet. Her voice was still roaming a labyrinth with no exit to the throat.
What had struck her were emotions she couldn't even begin to understand. There were so many of them, Haeun could barely try & manage it all. Let alone trying to speak.
Minji's throat was beginning a journey through pain. She only now realised how much yelling Minji did with her voice for the past few minutes.
All of a sudden, the argument had been cut off as the sound of something buzzing distracted the two women. It was Minji's phone, spazzing out in her pocket, alerting the girl of an incoming phone call.
Minji grabbed it quickly, seeing that: it was Minho who had done such an action. Weirdly enough, Minji was rather happy about his abrupt appearance. The girl didn't know how to end the talk, so a distraction like this helped her out.
- Shit, - Minji mumbled, realising what event missed.
The girl turned her head & began heading towards the flat's door. As she answered the call, Minji proceeded to look at the door behind her. She left a person she once considered to be loved by her, standing in the dark.
A/N: I feel like, if this story had been a reality, Minji wouldn't be existing after pushing her mum, but that's just me ig.
