History

The Halloween feast decorations made the Great Hall look more grand than usual. A thousand live bats fluttered from the walls and ceilings while a thousand more swooped over the tables in low black clouds., making the candles in the pumpkins stutter. The feast appeared suddenly on the golden plates, as it had at the start of term banquet.

Ariana was helping himself to a baked potato when Percy asks.

"Have you found anything yet?"

Ariana knows what he is talking about. She mentioned how she was going to ask a friend from home for information about Kyma. That friend was Annabeth. When she Iris Messaged Annabeth she asked for her to check the Athena cabin library for anything about the word Kyma. When she couldn't find anything she snuck into Chiron's private library in the big house, but Chiron found her and is now making her clean dishes for a month.

Ariana shakes her head "She tried, but she was caught before she could find anything."

"Maybe y'all are thinking to much about this." Isabella says. "Those words could have been there for years."

"Even if they were there for years we still want to figure out what it means. Remember 'Kyma' was one of the words Dumbledore used at the beginning of the feast." Sophia says.

Ariana remembers that. "Yeah I remember. Dumbledore said Fawkes, Alicanto, Kyma, and Glacies. He then winked at me like he was giving me a hint."

"Or maybe he just winked at you because he said your birds name." Isabella tried to reason.

"Why are you so set on this just being coincidental?" Percy asks with a mouthful of pumpkin pie in his mouth.

"Because I don't want y'all getting in any more trouble. You both already got in trouble for the Flying lessons incident, and then Percy gets detention every other day in Professor Dodds class."

"It's not my fault she doesn't like me." Percy defends.

"Yeah it's not his fault Professor Dodds hates his personality." Ariana jokes.

"I found something!" Ariana says while walking over to her friends.

"Shhhhhhhh" Madam Pince says from behind her.

Ariana looks back and mouths sorry before slamming the book on the table.

Percy jumps. "What was that for?"

Ariana ignores him and reads a part of her book out loud. "The seven guardians were designed to represent forces of nature. Fire, earth, water, lightning, ice, light, and darkness."

Percy just stares at her confused.

"What's so important about that?"

"Because when Alicanto was given to me someone called him the seventh guardian. I feel like they are connected."

"If they are connected Alicanto is light." Isabella chimes in.

"How do you know." Sophia asks while finishing her Charms essay.

"Have you seen his wings they practically glow." Isabella tries to reason.

"Yes, but these guardians were formed thousands of years ago to keep balance. There was a war and the guardians were have said to have died or disappeared." The others stare at her.

"How do you know that?" Percy asks.

"If you paid attention in History of Magic you would know that too." Sophia sniffs. "But I think Professor Binns got his subjects mixed up because he said they were all named Uruk the Ugly."

"So we assume Alicanto is light, but what do Fawkes, Kyma, and Glacies mean."

Ariana sits down and sighs. 'What is the purpose of finding this out.' She says to herself.

'Why don't I just be a normal witch for once.'

'Even the Greek world is more simple than this.'

'Wait, Greek..'

'I can only really read in Greek.'

'Percy and me could both understand the writing.'

'Does that mean Kyma is Greek?'

"Wave" Ariana blurts out.

"What?" Isabella asks. "Ariana to you need to go to the Hospital Wing.

"No I'm fine. Kyma means wave is it's Greek."

"How do you know that?" Sophia questions.

"I read it somewhere?" Ariana lies.

Sophia raises and eyebrow.

"So does that mean Kyma is the water one?" Percy asks.

"It's possible."

"What about Fawkes and Glacies do either of them have a Greek translation?"

"No."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Glacies is Latin." Percy says uncertaintly.

"How do you know Latin?" Isabella asks.

"I uh... I had a History teacher last year named Mr. Brunner. He was very into the western culture, but he mainly taught Latin. I remember the word, but I don't remember it's definition."

Ariana walks over to the language section of the library

"English....French....German....Greek...Latin!"

Ariana grabs the books and bring it back to the table. She starts flipping through it "B's...E's...G's."

It's quiet besides the scribbling of Sophia doing her Potions homework and Percy tapping his finger on the table.

"Found it!"

They all look at her. "Glacies is Latin for ice."

"So are our theories correct this is somehow connected to the guardians?"

"Well it's probably not a coincidence that Kyma means wave, Glacies means ice, and Alicanto wings are very bright like a light."

"So what are we going to do?"

Ariana shrugs. "We could always go back to the spot we saw the words."

Isabella shivers "You realize that it's next to the Forbidden Forest right?"

"Yeah it'll be fun."

Shouting and cheering starts.

Percy scrunches his eyes in confusion. "What is that?"

"Oh. That's just the Quidditch game starting." Sophia says casually.

"What." Arian whisper yells. "No one told me that was today?"

"I don't think anyone needed to tell you. There were literally posted announcements and cheering and shouting during breakfast this morning."

"Well let's go watch it." Ariana says.

"Are you sure, you seemed pretty excited to do work instead of having fun earlier." Percy says sarcastically.

Ariana grabs her bag then walks over to Percy and pulls him by his ear to the quidditch match. Leaving Sophia and Isabella to follow them.

New chapter! Sorry it's shorter.

When do you think Percy should go to Camp Half Blood this summer or next summer. If he goes this summer then the prophecy would make more sense to happen at age 15. It also makes more sense with Ms. Dodds being there for it to happen this summer.
