Christmas

Christmas was coming. In mid-December Hogwarts woke up to find itself covered in several feet of snow. The lake froze solid, but barely anyone was willing to stand on it. Besides Percy and the Weasley twins. No owls had made it to breakfast that morning due to the weather. Alicanto didn't deliver a message today either, but Ariana did usually send or receive one from camp almost every week.

Everyone was excited for the holidays. Even though the common rooms and the Great Hall had roaring fires, the drafty corridors had become icy and a cold wind traveled through the windows into the classrooms. The worst class of all was Potions class down in the dungeons, where their breath rose into a mist and they kept as close as possible to their cauldron.

On the way to lunch, they found a large fir tree blocking the corridor ahead. Two enormous feet sticking out at the bottom.

"Hey Hagrid." Ariana says.

"Hey Ariana how are you?" Hagrid said.

"Can you move out of the way." And annoying voice said from behind them. "Some of us have more important things to do."

The five of them look back to see Marcus, Cecilia, and Caspian.

Marcus then decides to add another snide comment. "Jackson I didn't notice you. Are you learning how to be a game keeper? You and your parents need the money don't you? With all your second hand stuff."

Ariana looks at Percy's stuff and notices for the first time it's tattered and frayed. The wall cracks open and water starts spraying down on Marcus and his friends who start yelling and sliding as they try to get away.

"Mr. Jackson!"

Everyone around looks to see Professor Dodds walk in. "Detention for a whole month after Christmas."

"But Professor it wand this fault, Marcus provoked...."

"Fighting is still against the rules, Hagrid."

She looks back at Percy. "15 points form Gryffindor also."

"I hate them." Ariana mumbles.

"Cheer up its Christmas." Isabella says. "Lets go get lunch."

They enter the Great Hall and see teachers helping set up Christmas decorations.

The hall looked spectacular. Festoons of holly and mistletoe hung all around the walls, and no less than twelve towering Christmas trees stood around the room., some sparkling with tiny icicles, some glittering with hundreds of candles.

"See y'all later." Hagrid says while walking with the Christmas tree.

"Bye Hagrid." Isabella and Ariana say.

They all sit down at the table. "Two more days until the holidays." Isabella says. "Are y'all excited to go home?"

"Yeah I want to see my mum." Sophia says.

"I'm ready to see my friends." Ariana says.

Percy just nods his head.

~~~~~~~~
The last few days were as long as the rest of them. Teachers still gave them homework and the weather didn't help. There had been a snowstorm for the last couple of days, but it has started to get worse. Percy hasn't talked much with any of the girls since the incident with Marcus and has been hanging out with Johnathan and Oscar, two Gryffindor first years. Ariana was going to confront him when they got to America. This morning, Alicanto brought her a letter saying that her and Percy would go to Dumbledore's office. Where they would be transported to America.
