PERCY JACKSON
Why does it always start with someone you think you can be friends with? Someone you thought was your ally. Your family. And now, all you can see is how they stabbed you in the back, and ripped all your not-that-good-but-best dreams you had that can never be restored. That's what happened to me. And let me tell you...
It's never a good feeling.
"Kill me," I groaned to Annabeth, who gave me a peck on the cheek. "I don't want to go to dinner!"
"But you love food, Percy!"
"I'm fucking sick. With a FEVER. Do you think I'm in the mood to be eating? It's all gonna come out of my mouth and into the barf bucket!"
Annabeth sighed. "It's gonna be okay, Percy. You'll get over it. If you can kill monsters, you can definitely defeat some bug. It's been going around with a lot of students recently... Well, it is flu season. I'll bring you back a chicken noodle soup. You NEED to eat something."
And she left. Just like that. And little did I know how much changed in the time I was sick and didn't leave my cabin. Because it was like walking into an alternate universe.
--1 WEEK LATER--
"Hey, what's up... ooh! Who's the new kid?" I asked, looking straight at the new child sitting next to Annabeth.
"This is Tommy. He's absolutely adorable."
"Why thank you, Annabeth!"
"The poor thing was attacked by dracnae... he said they threw him in a pot of stinky liquid and were about to kill him... luckily we showed up, but this kid has some MAD skills!"
I was taken aback by how happy Annabeth sounded, just because she's never complimented anyone like that. Even that kid who managed to fight a hellhound before getting into camp by themselves didn't get her praise... But I wasn't there, so I couldn't tell.
"Congrats, kid!" I clapped him on the back.
"OW!" he yelled, collapsing to the floor.
My eyes widened in surprise.
"Oh... I'm sorry! Did I clap you too hard--"
"What do you mean you're sorry?" Annabeth hissed, catching me by surprise. "You f**king assaulted him!"
"What? I didn't mean to--"
"Of course you meant it!" Jason exclaimed, "Because the all mighty Percy Jackson can't stand seeing someone better than him walk into camp."
"Who said I couldn't stand--"
"All of us," Hazel sighed, staring at me in disappointment and disgust, "We're gonna go now, Percy."
And with that, Annabeth, Hazel, Jason, Piper, Frank, and Hazel took off with Tommy, leaving me in the dust. I should've known more of those was to come.
___
"PERCY JACKSON!" I heard a yell that jolted me awake.
My cabin door burst open.
"What the--"
"How could you do this?!" Piper was yelling, "I've been working SO hard on my project for the campers and you just RUINED it!"
"Whoa... I'm sorry, Pipes, but I didn't--"
"Yes, you did!" she was crying now, "You left a sea-green trident at the scene! IN FUCKING SPRAY PAINT!"
And she slammed the door behind her. Again, WHAT DID I DO WRONG?!
___
Now this was the last straw.
"PERCY!" Annabeth screamed.
She burst in and was holding a stick.
"Frank's in the infirmary right now," she glared.
"Uhm... is he okay? What do I need to--"
"You tried to kill him," she snarled.
"What?"
"His stick was found drenched in the sea. That was why he was drowning earlier. Because YOU tried to drown him!"
"I'm sorry, what?"
"You're being accused of attempted murder. We'll hold your trial in a few months. Till then, you're on dish duty, you son of a bitch!"
She slammed the door.
--3 MONTHS LATER--
I didn't come out of my cabin anymore. 'Cuz if I did, everyone would glare and whisper about me. One kid even decided to assault me with food. And again, I apparently "deserved" it. Tommy now sat where I once sat. So I didn't eat. Yeah. Percy Jackson. Not. Eating. Once in a while, my mom would bake blue cookies and send them to my cabin, but pretty soon, I'm guessing the "Percy hate" plague caught her too.
And those stopped.
I had trained my powers for three months straight. Deciding where to go. Nowhere on this Earth was I able to find peace. So where did I look? Space. Where no one knew me and if they did, I could jump to another planet and start new. So I had finally disobeyed my dyslexia and went to the library of Athena.
"Space... Space... Space..." I muttered under my breath, trying not to make a sound.
That's when I found it. A book. "How To Get To Outer Space" written by... the four siblings of Space? Whatever, I didn't care about the author. I silently slipped it into my jacket and walked out of the library, head down, not making a sound. That's when I read. I read for hours and hours on end. To be honest, it passed the time better.
GODS. I can't believe I said that.
--5 MONTHS LATER--
It was a campfire night. And I already knew everything I needed to know on leaving... if I planned to leave. Because I was not a favorite of the Fates and they gave me loyalty as a fatal flaw. How glad I was to hear that...
"...and who needs that Percy Jackson anyways?" I suddenly heard from the campfire.
I mist-traveled into a shadowy corner, dressed in all black to watch.
"I mean, he's such a dweeb!" Annabeth laughed, "I'm so glad I'm with you, Tommy."
And she kissed him. Right on the fucking lips. And everyone cheered. CHEERED. So I, being Percy Jackson, decided to ruin their night. Because this camp would see the last of me. I created a ball of water and threw it straight at the flames. Everything was dark now. I could walk out. No one could see me. I then took out a can of spray chalk and graffitied all walls around them.
Then, I mist-traveled away. To start a new life.
