Chapter 7

11 ~~STREET-LATE AFTERNOON~~ 11

Y/n is walking down the street slowly with her head down, staring at the ground.

She has been walking like this for a while while simultaneously thinking about all that has happened.

She then bumps into someone.

Y/N
Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going.

PETER
No, no, it's okay. I wasn't looking either.

She recognizes the voice and looks up.

The person she ran into was Peter Parker.

She doesn't say anything and begins smiling involuntarily.

PETER
Say, don't you go to my school?

Y/N
Uh yeah.

PETER
Oh and you also work for the school paper. It's y/n, right?

Y/N
Um yeah, that's me.

PETER
What a coincidence running into you of all people in New York City.

Y/N
Yeah. It's pretty crazy. Um, are you going somewhere?

PETER
Oh uh yeah. I was just heading to the downtown library.

Y/N
Well isn't that back there?

PETER
Is it? I guess I don't know where I'm going.

Y/n chuckles and moves her hair that's in her face with her right hand.

Peter watches and notices the red marks on her wrist.

PETER
Hey, what happened there?

Y/N
Oh, that? It's nothing.

PETER
Is that too personal of a question?

Y/N
Oh no, it's fine. I was just messing around at the Bronx Zoo where my mom works and got bit by a lizard.

PETER
Oh wow, okay. That's something you don't hear everyday.

Y/n chuckles awkwardly.

Y/N
Yeah.

PETER
So, your mom works at the Bronx Zoo?

Y/N
Yeah. She's a zookeeper.

PETER
That's really cool. I'll have to stop by sometime.

Y/N
Yeah you should.

Y/n looks down at Peter and notices a bump on his right hand.

Y/N
Where'd you get that from, if that's not too personal of a question?

Peter laughs awkwardly.

PETER
Uh I hit it against a pole. I was walking by and didn't see it.

Y/N
Ouch. I'm sure that was painful.

PETER
Yeah, it felt like I hit a scooter against my ankle.

Y/N
Ow.

All of a sudden, y/n and Peter sense an approaching danger and both leap to the left.

A bicyclist comes flying by.

Peter looks at y/n while she looks at herself and the ground.

They then look at each other.

PETER
What did you say those marks were from?

Y/N
Um a lizard bite.

PETER
A lizard bite?
