Maya smiled as she looked at Jace playing with Kayden while she was doing a bit of work on her computer. She heard the car pulling into the driveway as she saw how her husband came in the house.
"Hello, Babe. You're early," Maya said as Josh smiled handing her roses.
"What is this for?" Maya asked.
"Happy three year anniversary," Josh said giving Maya a kiss as she smiled.
"Happy anniversary."
Looking how her husband went to pick Jace up as he sat down next to Kayden she thought of her life and the first time they had even met. Of course that was eight years ago but she couldn't believe her life was this. She had two beautiful children and she was married to the love of her life also known as her first love. Maya started to continue editing her mommy-baby date vlog which she wanted to get up awhile ago but never got by it while Josh was busy with the kids. Pressing his hand on Kayden's arm he realized the toddler felt warm as he held his hand against his head.
"Maya," Josh said as Maya turned her attention to Josh.
"Kayden feels warm," Josh said as Maya got up.
"You okay, Baby? Do you feel sick, Kade?" Maya asked picking her son up.
"Hey," Maya said feeling his head.
"He's definitely warm," Maya said as she went to the kitchen drawer.
"Okay, Baba. You know how this works. Under the tongue," Maya said putting the thermometer under Kayden's tongue.
"He seems fine. He didn't eat lunch though," Maya said.
"Maybe it's my imagination then," Josh said as Maya took out the thermometer.
"104. Okay I'm taking him to the hospital. Will you stay here with Jace?" Maya asked.
"Yeah sure. No problem. Go, I have this one," Josh said as Maya grabbed Kayden's bag heading out the door.
Maya went out of the house as she put Kayden in the car. Immediately driving through to the hospital she didn't even think of doing any work related things. She just needed to get her son checked out. Arriving at the hospital Maya noticed that Kayden was fiddling with his ear knowing what it was.
"Does your ear hurt? Let's go and see the doctor," Maya said as she took Kayden out and walked into the emergency room.
"What's the matter?" the doctor asked as Maya put Kayden on the bed.
"Think it's an ear infection. He has a 103 fever," Maya said.
"Let's see what we can do then," he said.
Josh smiled at Jace fast asleep in his arms as he continued the video Maya had filmed. Placing a kiss on his cheek he heard the doorbell. He shook his head as he put Jace into his bassinet answering the door.
"Where's Maya?" Riley asked entering the room.
"Hospital. Kayden is sick so she went to the ER hopefully to find out what's wrong," Josh said.
"When will she be back? I need to talk to her," Riley said as Josh looked at his niece.
"Sit down first. And no. I'm not taking no for answer. What's wrong?" Josh asked as Riley sat down.
"I may or may not have gotten involved with someone again. I don't know. Things have been awkward with everything and especially with Lucas. We're seeing a lot of each other at NYU and the guy is also not making it easy," Riley said as Josh looked at her.
"Someone I know?" Josh asked.
"His name is Mason and he's a law student. He's practically almost done with college but I don't know how to react. I'm 20 and he's 21. We're just a year apart but I'm scared," Riley said.
"Because of how things went with Lucas? Don't be afraid, Riley. Sometimes we need new love to just push us into the right direction," Josh said smiling as he looked at Kayden.
"Look at my life. I'm 24, married and have two kids. My life didn't turn out the way I thought it would but it turned out better. I'm in my mid twenties in a house in Manhattan full of toy trucks and cars and I'm happy. Worried about my son but I'm happy," Josh said.
"Isn't it your 3 year anniversary?"
"Sometimes when you have children they don't play along. Look at me. I wanted to spend a chill day with my wife but now I'm editing a video and taking care of my 4 month old son while she's with our 3 year old at the emergency room with an ear infection. But things are amazing for us. Let me meet this Mason guy. Maybe I can convince him to be nicer to Lucas," Josh said.
"I'll arrange a meet up at Glenda's then. Thank you, Uncle Josh. You always know what to say," Riley said hugging her uncle.
"No problem," Josh said.
