"You do indeed have bipolar disorder" The doctor said making my heart drop.

"W-what?" My voice cracked.

"Why now tho? She's 25 why is it just now starting?" Sorell asked.

"Although bipolar disorder can occur at any age, it's mainly diagnosed in the teenage years or early 20s." He nodded.

"Oh my god" Sorell shook her head.

"We ran some tests and it does run in your family. The way this condition works is that it skips a generation. Do you have any siblings?" He asked.

"A older sister, yes" I nodded.

"Well that explains why you have it instead of her. It skipped your sister and now you have it just like if your mom has siblings then it went to her instead of her siblings" He told me.

"Oh my god" I cried softly in my hands.

"The good news is that we have things that'll make it seem like you almost didn't have it. Many people take prescribed pills that prevents them from feeling depressed, wanting to hurt themselves, going crazy things of that sort. Since you do indeed have bipolar disorder, I'd like to prescribe you some pills" He explained.

"And if she doesn't take the pills?" Sorell asked.

"Then it wouldn't be pretty. If she doesn't take the pills she'll push everyone away and become extremely depressed where she wouldn't want to see anyone, be around people she loves, even hurting herself where she could die. It would be like you didn't even know her" He looked at me.

"Is this permanent? I'll have to take pills for the rest of my life if I wanna be myself?" I asked.

"I'm afraid so. Treatment can help but this cannot be cured. If you have any kids or if you plan on having any in the future.. please, get them tested." He looked at me with sympathy.

"Thanks again" Sorell smiled at him.

"I've ordered your prescriptions. They should be ready by tomorrow for you to be able to pick them up. I know this is hard Esme but you look like a strong girl. You can still be happy with this okay?" He smiled at me.

"Yea.." I mumbled.

"Take care" He looked at us one more time before he left the room.

I was becoming the one person I never wanted to become. I was just like my mother..
