Miguel and Brooklyn were in the dojo scrubing the mats when, the bell rang and their Sensei walked in, "Make sure you get both sides." Miguel and Brooklyn both nodded, "After you're done with that, you can take care of these exposed wires. That's gonna be a lot of work." Sensei lawrence spoke. "What does any of this have anything to do with karate, Sensei?" Brooklyn questioned. "Do not question my methods. Just be glad you're not a sumo wrestler. Those guys have to wipe their Sensei's asses." Sensei lawrence replied.
"So, I, uh see you were a karate champion Sensei." Miguel stated, "You two don't have to call me "Sensei" every time." Sensei lawrence stated, "I'm sorry Sensei- I, um.. Sorry. I'm sorry." Miguel replied, Johnny nodded, "I won a couple All Valley tournaments. Didn't lose a single point in my junior year." Johnny said, "Alright" Miguel said at the same time Brooklyn said "Bitchin" "What happened your senior year?" Brooklyn questioned. "This isn't 20 questions. Get back to scrubbing." Johnny said not wanting to think about that year.
Miguel's phone started ringing, "Oh. Just a sec." Miguel muttered, "Where's that garbage coming from? You hear that?" Johnny asked. Brooklyn stiffled a laugh as Miguel answered his phone and Brooklyn went back to scrubbing "Hey, Yeah, uh, debate's running a little late." Brooklyn's eyes widen at the word "debate" knowing it was their mom, "Uh, Ok. Love you too." Miguel finished the call. "Don't tell me you have a girlfriend." Johnny said. Brooklyn laughed, Johnny glanced at her then focused back on Miguel, "That was our mom actually" Miguel stated. "We told her we joined the debate team 'cause she doesn't approve of violence." Brooklyn informed.
"Yeah what does your dad think. Is he ok with you getting your ass kicked up and down Reseda Boulevard?" Johnny asked. As soon as he mentioned the word Brooklyn's mood dampened, she then spoke, "Oh, we never, uh, really knew our dad so..." "All right, well, stop standing there. Get back to training." Johnny ordered, Miguel and Brooklyn got back to work. "And change that ringtone. Get some Guns N' Roses or something." Johnny said. "Oh, I love Guns N' Roses." Brooklyn smiled. Johnny smiled at her. "What's Guns N' Roses?" Miguel questioned, Brooklyn gasped while Johnny stated, "I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that." _________________________
