Chapter Three- That gut feeling

I decided to lay low for a while before going back to my house. I camped out in an abandoned house for the rest of the night. I’ll face my family tomorrow.

Once the next day arrived, I woke up and escaped the house I was in. Most of the house was charred black. I guess a fire had to have happened not too long ago. The door was bolted shut, so I climbed in and out through a broken window. The bad thing is that the house never looked too sturdy, so it can cave in at any time. I got out of there as quickly as I could, but something was telling me not to go home. I ignored it and took the quickest route home.

I walked up the steps of my house and hesitated out the door. I reached for the door knob and sighed.

Ethan: “I’m home”

I turned the doorknob and got a clear view of the living room that I haven’t been in, in months. Being in that hospital made me realize not to take a thing for granted. I walked up the stairs and opened my brother’s bedroom and he was sitting on the couch, talking on the phone. I knocked on his door and it grabbed his attention.

Ethan: “I'm home”

Brandon dropped his cellphone in shock and ran up and hugged me.

Brandon: “How are you here? You’re supposed to be at the hospital”

I looked at him for a moment. I wasn’t sure if I should tell him how and why I’m here. However, he is my brother and I knew he could keep a secret. So I told him, I told him every event that occurred after they left. Hearing it out of my ownmouth sounded silly. However, it was the truth and if he needed proof, I would be happy to oblige.

Brandon: “So you expect me to believe a magic rabbit gave you a wish to get rid of your cancer, in exchange you have to fight ‘witches’ with your magic powers”

Ethan: “Yes, I can prove it if you like”

Brandon crossed his arms. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my soul gem. It was like looking at a small green lava lamp.

Brandon: “You could have gotten that anywhere”

Brandon’s ignorance was certainly pissing me off. So I raised my soul gem and flashed into my costume. I bet Brandon couldn’t come up with a logical explanation for that. I looked at him; he didn’t seem surprised at all.

Ethan: “Do you believe me now?”

Brandon: “I do believe you, so what’s your plan?”

I quickly flashed out of my uniform.
