Chapter Nine— A Witch’s Kiss

          The following Monday morning, I jolted out of bed. Kyubey was sitting on top of my dresser and he smiled at me. I noticed Brandon already left for school, and he didn’t have the courtesy to wake me up as well. That pissed me off. I quickly got changed and left for school.

Kyubey: “No breakfast today?”

Ethan: “I don’t eat breakfast, you know that”

Kyubey: “You have to keep your energy up; you’re a growing magical boy after all”

Ethan: “I’m too late for the school breakfast, I’m an hour late for school and you know I'm poor, so I can’t afford breakfast. Why do you keep asking me questions just to push my buttons?”

Kyubey: “I just asked you for breakfast”

Ethan: “I’m not stealing again”

          After that Kyubey was silent. It seemed like the days were going by quicker than I expected them to. I walked up the school steps and opened the front door. Kyubey followed me inside.

Ethan: “Come to my class today Kyubey. Only Joshua will be able to see you”

Kyubey: “Fine, but I would most likely sleep”

          Kyubey reigned true to his word cause when Joshua came in and sat next to me, Kyubey was already asleep.

Joshua: “Hey Ethan”

          I was curious to the fact that I haven’t seen the girl he’s usually with, in about a week.

Ethan: “Where’s your friend you’re usually with?”

Joshua: “Oh you mean Glen? She was transferred out of the class into a different one”

          I looked at the desk with Kyubey sleeping on it.

Joshua: “This is your incubator?”

Ethan: “Incubator?”

Joshua: “That’s what their species is called; they take your wish and exchange your soul in an egg, or incubator”

          I sighed; it started to all make sense.  Mrs. Petrarca walked into the room, dropped her bag on the desk and took the attendance. She looked different today, like the life has been sucked out of her. I looked into her eyes and I saw they were cold and lifeless, other than her natural cheery attitude.

Ethan: “The teacher looks a little different today, don’t you think?”

Joshua: “Other than her usual self, I’d say so”

          The teacher turned her head, exposing a small tattoo on her neck.

Ethan: “Since when did she have a tattoo on her neck?”

          Joshua turned his head as his eyes almost popped out of her head.

Joshua: “Dude she’s under the influence of a witch, that’s not a tattoo, that’s a witch’s kiss. That thing on her neck will make her do some crazy things if we don’t help her”

Ethan: “How do we help her?”

Joshua: “At the moment, try to keep her safe until the period ends, then we will scope the area to find the witch that’s influencing her. I’ll have a friend watch over her, until the witch is gone”

Ethan: “Fine, just watch out for her now”

          Suddenly the teacher stood up and walked towards the window.
