Chapter Twenty-six- a Change in Atmosphere
I looked at Brittany and was completely puzzled on what she just said. Joshua and I turned to each other and cocked our heads. We both put on a look on our faces that seemed very distraught.
Joshua: "What do you mean Brittany?"
Brittany: "I want to be like the both of you. I want to be a magical girl and fight witches. I want my destiny to help others"
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Who would want to volunteer to be a magical girl and risk their life? This was all preposterous and obscure and I couldn't let this happen.
Ethan: "You should only be a magical girl for a good reason. Any other reason is just dumb. Why would you risk your own life for the sake of others?"
Brittany: "This seems like the ultimate way to help out people"
Ethan: "This isn't a game. This is real life with real things at stake. Think about all the people who would be really sad if you die. Have you ever put their feelings into consideration?"
Joshua: "Take it easy Ethan"
Ethan: "I'm just trying to prevent a mistake. I'm just trying to prevent any more premature wishes at the hands of that horrible creature. You should be a magical girl if you have no other options"
Joshua: "Brittany, Ethan is right. We can't allow you to be a magical girl until your one-hundred percent sure this is what you want"
Brittany: "This is something that I want. I'm really not good at anything; I can't even recruit people for my church. I've been trying to get people to be a part of the church for years and I never got anyone. If this is another way to help people see the light, I'm all in"
Joshua: "Alright, I understand where you are coming from. You just want to help people and who are we to stop you. However, once you make this decision there is no turning back. You will live the rest of your short life as a fighter and it isn't easy. You also have to decide on a wish; a wish you would trade your soul and your life for"
Brittany: "I understand that and I'll need some time to think. I will regroup with you guys when I figure it out"
And just like that, she left; leaving Joshua and I in the parking lot alone.
Ethan: "Are we seriously going to allow her to do this?"
Joshua: "It doesn't matter Ethan, It isn't your decision to make"
Ethan: "So we just let her be slaughtered for the sake of power?"
Joshua: "That's how life is"
Joshua and I took an alternate route back to the mansion. It was definitely longer but it was much needed. I had to clear my mind and the walk was definitely silent enough for me to do so. It's like I was walking alone, he was like a stranger or a ghost following behind me. We both flashed out of our magical boy uniforms and continued our walk. I shoved my hands into the pockets of my black ripped jeans and stared up at the orange and purple sky. The sky reminded me of Justin and Brandon's soul gems. The colors fused together and created a bright sky of art. Almost anything can remind me of my brother nowadays. Just the thought of us fighting together side by side is simply heartwarming. However it would never happen again and that was strictly depressing. I really miss him, and I hope I get to see him soon. Another thing that wrapped my brain in shackles is that Jack was continuing to keep me alive. He could let me die and take over my body but he chooses to stay. Why? Is he afraid a witch would kill me before he gets a chance to? Why doesn't he just let me use up all my powers so he can take over and defeat the witch right there? Maybe this whole thing has a deeper purpose and I just don't realize it.
