Chapter Five- The New Life
Ethan’s P.O.V
The next day Brandon and I walked to school. I couldn’t afford to miss any more days. Sometimes I wondered if the cancer would come back. I didn’t exactly wish for the cancer not to come back, I just wished for it to be gone.
I sat in the same spot in that boring class as last time. When the school day ended, I met up with Brandon and we went back to what we call home.
Brandon: “This whole week has been kind of crazy for you huh?”
Ethan: “Yeah, but I don’t mind it; it has all been a haze to me”
Brandon nodded and I smiled. I knew I had to fight a witch today, I can feel my soul gem slowly diminishing in power. Once Brandon and I got home, I dropped off my stuff and headed for the door again.
Brandon: “Where are you going?”
Ethan: “Look, in order for me to keep this power. I have to fight witches on a constant basis”
Brandon: “Can I go with?”
Ethan: “It’s actually really dangerous. I wouldn’t advise it.
A hurt look formed on his face. Leaving him here, unprotected, would be the same as taking him with me.
Ethan: “I’ll have to watch over you then”
His face lit up as we both headed out the door. I pulled out my soul gem and followed a trail till I found a labyrinth. The labyrinth was under a highway and the highway was experiencing some heavy traffic.
Brandon: “Are we here?”
Ethan: “Yeah and it’s been here for a while”
Brandon and I entered the labyrinth. The labyrinth was mainly a teal color with black polka dots. Brandon had a surprised look on his face.
Brandon: “Whoa! What is this place?”
Ethan: “This is a witch’s labyrinth”
Brandon took a few steps forward as these fat, multicolored commas with flowers in the middle of them appeared around us. I transformed and took out my scythe.
Ethan: “Get back!”
Brandon walked back as I jumped up, hitting the familiars with my scythe.
Brandon: “Don’t get hurt”
I smiled and killed off the rest of the familiars.
