Chapter Thirty- The Beginning of the End pt.1

Hailey spent over three hours designing, choreographing, and basically explaining the battle plan of what will be going down somewhere in the next few days. I don't know if I have said this before but thank God that we have Hailey. She is literally the smartest person in the group, without her we would be nothing. In the situation that we are in now, I'm glad she is the leader. She is so cool and stays calm under pressure. If I was in her shoes, I wouldn't know where to start, not to mention I would be freaking out by now. I wonder how she does it?

After Hailey explained everything, we all dispersed from the room. Some went up to their rooms and the others outside. I went into the kitchen to see Hildegard washing dishes. Her long black hair swayed with the rhythmic movements of her hands scrubbing at the dishes. Her hair was tied into a ponytail and it still came down to her lower back. I cleared my throat and she turned her head and met my gaze.

Hildegard: "Good evening. Is there anything you would like to eat?"

I shook my head and walked up to her.

Ethan: "Would you like some help with those?"

Hildegard: "It is very sweet of you to offer but I think I can handle them"

Ethan: "Alright"

Hildegard: "Why the change in heart all of the sudden?"

I thought about it for a moment.

Ethan: "I guess when you look back at your life and see a lot of bad things, you would try anything good; even if it is small"

Hildegard: "I'm glad that you're taking some initiative. However, doing good things don't make you a good person, just like doing bad things doesn't make you a bad person. These perceptions on "good" and "bad" are what the media tell you. They also tell you what's beautiful and what is not. When you start to realize that these perceptions of the things that stick into your inner psyche are nothing more than common irregularities, only then is when you can live your life in true bliss"

I'll admit it, she had a very valid point to make. She was so wise, and I think that is what I'll miss a lot. Hildegard turned to me and kissed my forehead. She tousled my hair, leaving suds in my hair.

Hildegard: "Go, run along now child"

I shook the suds from my hair and made my exit. I didn't know where to go next, but somehow my feet took me up the stairs and down the hallway to Hailey's room. I knocked on the door and heard her tell me to enter. I opened the door to see Hailey drawing on a sketchpad. Her room was a deep purple color with king size bed right in the middle of two windows. The windows were open, creating a cross breeze which blew her purple curtains toward me. The long curtains danced with the wind, which made me want to dance with them. She had a brown nightstand next to her bed, which held up a lamp. On the right side of the room was a door, which was either a bathroom or a closet. She had posters of a popular boy band on her walls and famous people. It truly looked like a typical teenage girls bedroom.

Hailey: "What do you need Ethan"

Ethan: "I just want to commemorate you on your planning skills. You're truly an inspiration"

Hailey: "Thank you Ethan, have a seat"

I sat down at the foot of her bed and ran my fingers across the blanket. The blanket was made from a light black and purple silk and was designed in a nice floral pattern. Hailey's eyes had never left her sketchpad, not even once. The picture she was drawing was of a very realistic tree with a dove resting on a branch.
