Chapter Twenty-Four- The History of the Magical Boy

I walked up the familiar white steps of the mansion and turned the doorknob. All the guards were relieved from their duties for the night, so I had to open the door for myself. I was pretty upset that Amberly turned into a witch, but I knew she would come back. However, for Vanessa's witch, it would be a lot more complicated. I had to run away from her witch, if I was to defeat her, I would unleash an even greater evil upon the world. It's only a matter of time before Jack gets a body of his own, but I would like to stall him for as much as I can.

I walked through the main lobby and up the stairs to my bedroom. It was very early in the morning and tiny rays of sunlight pierced through the blinds. I covered my eyes and hissed at the light before tossing myself on the bed.

???: "I couldn't help notice the predicament you have placed yourself in. Running away like that probably wasn't the best thing to do. What do I know though? You humans have a wide variety of emotions that our species don't comprehend"

I turned my head towards the window to see the familiar silhouette of Kyubey standing on the windowsill.

Ethan: "Being a magical boy isn't an easy job. Why don't you put yourself in my shoes?"

Kyubey: "I can't begin to comprehend the struggles you Puella magi endure. It wasn't even supposed to be this way. It used to be only magical girls, not boys".

Ethan: "What changed this concept?"

Kyubey: "One magical girl thought it was sexist that only girls had to face these challenges. So, she wished that boys can also make contracts"

Ethan: "Tell me the story; I'm pretty sure you've seen it all"

Kyubey: "You are correct. Now, where to begin? About five years ago, there were three girls by the name of Yosa, Iyris and Robin. They were a magical girl team but Yosa and Robin's wishes were the ones who changed the concept of magical girls. Allow me to tell you the story"

Flashback....

Robin was a girl with a regular life but there was something off about her so called "regular" life. She felt that she wasn't born in the right body and by that I mean she felt like she was a boy trapped in a girl's body. Then, that's where I came in and told her that I can grant any wish that she wanted. Well, of course she had tons of questions like "what's the catch?" and I had to tell her everything. At first, she wanted to wish to be a boy, but she found it to be weird to be the only magical boy in a world of magical girls. Also, she thought it was pretty sexist that only girls were chosen for this destiny, so she wished that all genders can make contracts. This changed the concept of magical girls in general and they had to share their fate with boys. She was okay with that and so was I.

Then Yosa came along and changed the fabric of my species. One night, Yosa was looking for her older sister Aubrey, who was a splendid magical girl. Yosa stumbled upon a witch's labyrinth and was almost killed. Robin swooped in and saved her at the last minute and took her home. When Yosa got home, she told her sister everything that had happened. Aubrey got angry and told her, "Don't go looking around for me, it's dangerous and don't make any miracle happen with any cat-rabbit". Yosa was extremely confused but went along with her night.

A few days later, Aubrey turned into a witch and Yosa had witnessed it with her own eyes. Aubrey's witch tried to kill Yosa but Robin again stepped in and saved her. Robin defeated Aubrey's witch, apologized to Yosa for killing her sister's witch and left her alone. That's where I stepped in and offered her a contract. I told her that she can wish her sister back, but she got extremely temperamental. Yosa was really upset about her sister's demise and called me out on my faults. She said, "Do you not care that my sister just died" and I told her that she was just an energy source. So she disobeyed her sister's wish and made a contract with me. She wished for another race of incubators who actually had emotions and never lied to the magical girls. This sort of put me out of business. I killed all of the incubators except one and he still roams around the earth somewhere.

Finally, there was Iyris, who made a contract with one of those wished up incubators. She teamed up with Yosa and Robin and everything was peachy. Until...Iyris's despair started to kick in. Iyris grew attached to Robin, but Yosa was always with Robin. Iyris felt a jealous rage against Yosa, to the point where she tried to kill her. However, right when she was about to kill Yosa, Robin stepped in and broke Iyris's soul gem. It was only Robin and Yosa left.

The final event that took place was the death of Robin and Yosa. There was a very powerful magical girl named Trinity and she was fixated on killing magical girls. She went after Robin first, Robin fought well, but to the point where she used too much magic and turned into a witch. Then, it was only Yosa and sure enough Trinity went after her as well. Yosa had to fight Robin's witch and Trinity at the same time. Yosa tripped and fell on her stomach, her soul gem was embedded on her back and Trinity broke it. Trinity killed Robin's witch and that was the last I saw of her.

Reality...

Ethan: "That story was pretty crazy, why did you sit idly by and watch this all unfold?"

Kyubey: "My species doesn't interfere in human interactions; we just wait for the outcome. I think you should go back and fight Vanessa's witch"

Ethan: "I don't want to go back; I'll let Joshua handle it when he wakes up"

Kyubey: "You would really risk the sake of human life for your own needs?"

I walked over to the window and grabbed Kyubey by his tail. I lifted him in the air and threw him out the window.

Ethan: "Yes I would"

I heard a loud crash when he hit the nearby trashcans and I slammed my window shut.

Ethan: "Good riddance"
