"Why do we have to go back?"

"To subdue the 18 dead brides." You explained.

"What? Isn't it 17?" Nan Feng asked.

"It was 17 but now it is 18" Xie Lian said.

"What?"

"One of them is the ghost groom!" You exclaimed, running up the stairs and entered the temple. Once you got inside, the entire hall was empty and many piles of messily veils from the brides stood earlier.

"Ugh, those people..."You shake your head, crouching down to pick up the veils. Nan Feng spoke. "I'm still confused. How come there is one extra?" You answered. "We've asked the villagers to identify each other and confirmed that there were no strangers." Xie Lian continued. "You and Fu Yao have also searched the neighborhood and found no trail of the ghost groom." He said.

"If this bandaged boy is not the ghost groom, then where on earth has the the groom gone...?"

"Could it be..." Xie Lian nodded his head, confirming Nan Feng's thought. "Yeah, instead of leaving, it has probably been hiding here. What [name] was chasing after was just the black fog..." Xie Lian paused, then looked around noticing someone is missing.

"Nan Feng?..." The junior official hummed in response. "Yeah?"

"Where's [Name]?" Nan Feng blinked, realizing you were gone, and left Xie Lian's outer robe.

"Help!" A scream broke the two from thinking and went outside the temple.

Xie Lian and Nan Feng hurriedly ran outside and saw the mob crowd immediately locked the temple's gate but the corpse bride manage to break in. Xie Lian looked around searching for You but you weren't there, even one of the people inside the temple, no! He's starting to get worried for you.

"Nan Feng! Save them and don't let them go down the mountain." Xie Lian said, Nan Feng had already chased them off. He summoned rouye out of his sleeves, as it flew high above the air. It attracted the corpse brides attention but it didn't last long when the group of mob Nan Feng knocked out came inside the temple.

All their attention went towards the group of men scaring them and ran back outside. An the corpse brides chased them all outside. Xie Lian turned around and two corpse bride were above the roof ready to tackle him down. He took a veil out from his sleeves he just pick down recently and tossed them each to the corpse bride. Their movement falter and having a difficulty to see him.

"Run!"

"This way! Let's go!"

The group started looking for another way to escape only for the entrance blocked by the corpse brides. Xie Lian made route formed into a magical circle and landed on the ground. "Get inside! Now!" He ordered.

"Come on! Come on!" The mob crowd started pushing and running, getting inside the barrier. Xiao Ying and the bandage boy went inside also along with the unconscious Xiao Pengtou.

All of a sudden, a black smoke erupts behind the gathering corpse bride and your figure appeared, your is looking down the ground and dark aura looming above you. Seeing your presence, Xie Lian was happy then jumped down the stairs when he noticed something odd in you. You lifted your hand and the corpse bride followed your gesture, black smoke came out from your hand. His eyes widen and jump back avoiding the corpse bride.

"[Name]!" Xie Lian shouted, running above the roofs, throwing each veils to the brides again. "Yeah?" You popped behind him, causing him to get almost slipped all of a sudden.

"..." His gaze turn to the your other self standing behind the corpse brides then back to your figure that was standing infront of him. "Who's...that down there?" He points at the fake down below. You followed his gaze then simply answered. "That is a fake! I'll explained it later! I went outside to call Ling Wen to ask if General Pei had intimate female friends." You explained.

"What did she say?"

"Ling Wen said before Pei Ming ascended, he was a general. He befriended a female general of the enemy and she's extremely beautiful and fierce---ah!" You were suddenly pulled on by the waist by Xie Lian and jumped together down the roof. He turn around and sent the brides a veils covering their head.

The people inside the circle actually started cheering in spite of themselves.

"Nice!"

"That was amazing!"

"Yeah! Amazing, so amazing!"

When Xie Lian heard them, he blurted out of habit. "Thank you, thank you! Please support us or applause---" he froze then turn around to look at you sheepishly. You bit your lips, trying to hold back your laughter. "Pfftt---Ahem! Onto the topic." You said, trying to sound serious. "R-Right. What's her name then?"

"Her name was Xuan Ji. When defeated and captured, she attempted to take her own life but Pei stopped her. Since the war was officially over, Pei set Xuan Ji free. However, Xuan Ji being competitive kept challenging Pei Ming. One thing led to another and they fell in-love." You explained, rolling your eyes at the last part.

"Sound romantic."

"It was at first, when Xuan Ji was determined to get it serious with Pei."

"That doesn't sound bad."Xie Lian said.

You huffed, folding your arms. "But Pei is a philanderer. Besides, their countries were hostile, which put them in a tight spot." All of a sudden, a shot of black smoke crashed from the roof down from the temple. You and Xie Lian jumped a few meters away from the damage.

"Tell me, which part she was handicapped?" He asked.

"...The legs" you replied.

The ghost isn't a groom...its actually a ghost bride!

Behind the smoke revealed a short woman dressed in red wedding robes.  The reason she was short because she was kneeling on the ground, both her legs were broken but the legs remained. And finally, Xuan Ji emerged from the smoke.

"Did he sent you for me?" she asked.

You suppose that this "he" naturally refered to General Pei.

Xuan Ji pressed on."Why didn't he come in person? Why?"

Seeing the hesitation to respond, Xuan Ji slumped on the ground. "Why didn't he come and visit? My darling Pei, I betrayed my country and left everything behind for you!"Slowly her words turned dark and angry.

"But you got me into this. Is your heart made out of stone!?" Xuan Ji shouted, tugging her hair.

"This is bad..."You muttered.
