🌺🍀 Chapter 44 : The Brocade Immortal

"Your Highness Qi Ying, you really are too rash. Stuffing whatever you find in your mouth, without knowing what it is."Xie Lian spoke.

"How would I know that anyone could actually poison their own food, offered in their own shrine?" Qi Ying glared.

Xie Lian rubbed his forehead and opened the donation box to see that it was filled to the brim with gold bars. [Name] spoke, "Was it you who filled the box last time?"Quan Yizhen nodded. Xie Lian asked, "Why are you giving me all this?" Quan Yizhen replied, "Because I have a lot."

"..."

Xie Lian ordered him to take the box back but Quan Yizhen didn't say anything, not listening. Just then, Lang Ying spoke up repeating Xie Lian's words. Now [name] had doubts of the child's movements, a thought came into his mind..."Hua Cheng".... Quan Yizhen also didn't listen to Lang Ying and the topic changed, about their mission to catch the brocade immortal.

After listening to the legend and rumor about the brocade immortal, Quan Yizhen collapsed again. His face was a shade of purple and he flipped over, crouching on the floor and puked all over the floor. [Name] sighed heavily and dragged Quan Yizhen over to the side, covering him with a blanket and letting him recover fast.

The next day, Quan Yizhen looked slightly better. This time, [name] didn't let him eat the food Xie Lian baked, instead he baked the ingredients Xie Lian bought from the village and made a braised beef dish. As [name] placed the dish on the table, Quan Yizhen sat in the spot Hua Cheng usually occupied. You noticed the way Lang Ying reacted, for some reason he keep staring at him with an unfriendly stare.

After eating the dish, Quan Yizhen fell asleep and keep resting in the Puqi Shrine. You thought of a plan to tease Hua Cheng. Just in time, Xie Lian had come out of the shrine and insisted you to rest after chopping the woods. Lang Ying on the other hand, came out looking for help.

"There's no need, Lang Ying. Heat some water and take a bath."You said, wiping your forehead from the sweat. Lang Ying was taken aback and didn't respond, Xie Lian had already carried a bundle of logs inside to heat water.

"I sold some scraps in town yesterday and bought two autumn robes. Once you're done bathing, why don't you see if they fit you?"Xie Lian spoke. Lang Ying was putting on the robes when he heard Xie Lian, he turned to leave without a word. Seeing his reaction, You grabbed onto him, "Don't go! Don't worry, I won't unwrapped the bandages on your face." Lang Ying still protested.

You breathe a heavy sigh as Lang Ying went out the door to chop wood gloomily, refusing to come back in. "[Name]...you should take a bath first. I'll take a bath later after you're finished, okay?" Xie Lian said. You smiled and nod your head. "Thank you, Lian." Xie Lian nodded and left.

You started peeling off your own clothes while the water is heated, you placed your silver hair on the side of your shoulder and submerged into the water after testing the temperature. Seeming something you forgot to bring, Lang Ying came back in with a bundle of logs in his hold. When he saw your upper body bare, his eyes widened. You blink a few times then remembers something.

"Lang Ying, can you get me my magic scarf? I forgot I left it outside." You said. Lang Ying did not only come inside, he backed all the way outside and shut the door. Your lips curled into a smirk, finding his reaction amusing.

Not long after, Lang Ying came back inside, forcefulling kicking the door open and dragged Quan Yizhen who sleep like a log and stiffed as a corpse. You giggled, "What are you doing? Lang Ying, it's alright. Its not like I'm a girl." You said.

Lang Ying didn't spare a look at you and was madly flushed red, while dragging Quan Yizhen outside. After a while, Lang Ying came with a scarf his head in a bow and left. You smiled and continued bathing.

"Whoa!"

Turns out while you were bathing, Xie Lian caught a girl knocking every doors to sell a clothings and things. It happens that the girl knocked on the temple and Xie Lian caught the girl however, that girl was a "girl" but an "eight-year-old hag!" It was the Half-Maquillage Woman!

You got curious when you hear a noise and so, you emerged from the bath dripping and stepping a foot on the edge to leap out. And after that event, you were standing between Xie Lian and Quan Yizhen with an old-hag on the ground, wailing.

"HAVE MERCY! Daozhang spare me!"

"Then where did you get your hands on this brocade robe?" Xie Lian questioned.

"I-I...picked it up from the Ghost City."She answered, picking her scarf to cover her face again.

"..."

Xie Lian interrogated the hag for a while, but it was fruitless. He called Qi Ying to collect the female ghosts by one of his heavenly juniors however, Qi Ying was a lone wolf and doesn't have deputy generals. You secretly sighed in relief, thinking of how your servant Ji Yun, is such a perfect timing to erase your title "Lone wolf" and it went to Qi Ying instead.

You took the brocade robe in Lang Ying's hand and started to inspect it. Your brows knitted together and tossed it behind you, Xie Lian was taken aback and caught the brocade robe.

"[Name] what are you doing?" Xie Lian asked. You folded your arms and replied, "That's a fake." Xie Lian was taken aback. "A fake?" Quan Yizhen nod his head. "That robe is fake. I've seen the real Immortal Brocade before." He said. [Name] nod his head. "Same here. It's way more powerful than this." Xie Lian was amazed.

"When have you guys seen it? There's actually quite a number of people who've seen the Immortal Brocade before. But it's hard to tell, how do you determine whether its fake or real?"He asked. Quan Yizhen stopped talking and [Name] shifts his scarf on his neck, then spoke, "It's better if Ling Wen will be the one to explain it everything to you..."

Just in time, Ling Wen called Xie Lian through the communication array. After Ling Wen reported everything to Xie Lian, she finished telling them all. Xie Lian made a sneak glance to Quan Yizhen and [Name], mostly it was you he keep glancing.

"[Name] and the Heavenly Emperor were the first people to notice the Immortal Brocade the robe Quan Yizhen was wearing..."
