THE OCEAN IS NOT CAPABLE OF GRANTING MERCY.
Anyone and anything can be subjected to its unforgiving current. The roar of it is a warning, after all, a clear message: stay away. Human minds however are curious. There are always efforts made by naivety that result in untimely deaths. Curiosity killed the cat, as they say.
Although a certain someone was different. His mind wasn't human, or at least not fully human. It was half god, specifically of the sea god Poseidon. The ocean was a welcoming friend to Percy Jackson. He had stood before it numerous times, laughing elatedly at the salty air on his skin, at the warm embrace of the waves. To Percy, the ocean felt like home, it beckoned him to live out the rest of his days under the water, free of any outside pressure.
He almost chose the ocean. He almost did.
