“Hoheo taralna, rondero tarel. Hoheo taralna, rondero tarel. Hoheo taralna, rondero tarel.” He mumbled it over and over in his sleep but there was nothing I could do.

“But does he know it was you, he was calling? Honestly you’ve been here this long and he hasn’t noticed.”

I frowned at him, “He’s my master and I won’t let you hurt him.”

Claude leaned close then and grabbed my arm, twisting it until it cracked horribly and bent backwards. Even so, I refused to hand over Alois.

He was everything to me and I wouldn’t let Claude take him for granted. I could help him. Hannah could help him. Claude would do nothing but cause him pain.

I sat silently in the window seat as I watched my master toss and turn in his sleep. I couldn’t get up. Couldn’t move.

If I had the use of my arm I might have been able to try and keep weight off my broken ankle but instead it lay lifelessly in a cloth sling. There was a small knock at the door and I sighed.

“Come in.”

Hannah walked in with some cloth bandages and gasped.

“What happen to you?”

I looked down at the ground. “He was in pain. I couldn’t let Claude hurt him further.”

Her eyes widened and she came up to me, examining my arm. “Claude did this to you?”

I shook my head as a tear rolled down my face, “He’s my master too.”

She nodded with a small smile, “I know Butterfly.”

“Hoheo taralna, rondero tarel. Hoheo taralna, rondero tarel…”

I looked over to my sleeping master. “I want to go to him… but I cant.”

He jolted awake and Hannah quickly went to his side.

“Pardon master. I’ll change your bandages if you’ll allow me to.”

In seconds he pulled her close, the bandage wrapped around her neck, nearly choking her. “You aren’t of any use to me. Get out and call, Claude!”

“Certainly master, I’ll go at once,” she choked out.

He let her go and she rushed from the room.

I sighed, “That wasn’t very nice. She was only trying to help.”
