I watched from the window as my master and the others greeted Ciel and Sebastian. My master hadn’t wanted me to be out there in case the other butler had any tricks.

I sighed as they went over to the outdoor chess board.

I went down stairs and outside so I could be at my master’s side during the duel. I went up the stair of the viewing aria and look a deep breath as I reached the top.

All the others were already armed and ready to fight. Seeing this, Sebastian brought out three silver knives.

I giggled and both Earls turned to look at me. Ciel stood sharply.

“What is she doing here?” he demanded.

I went to stand behind my master and he smirked, “Butterfly, say hello to our guest.”

I bow to him, “Lovely to see you again, Ciel Phantomhive.”

“I’ll ask again, what is she doing here?”

My master laughed, “Well didn’t she tell you? She’s mine of course.”

Ciel frowned and sat back down, “If that is so than why isn’t she down there fighting?”

He smiled, “She’s far too delicate for that. Her job is simply to stay by my side. Isn’t that right, my Butterfly?”

I nodded, “Of course, master.”

“You steal my beating heart! Say tres fantastic!”

We all turned to see Viscount Lord Druitt with a blue lobster on his head. “It’s unbelievable! An ancient dueling arena where legendary heroes fought to the death!”

“Oh!” he cried dramatically. “This is tonight’s ball!? I am honored! Never in my life have I felt such excitement to receive a party invitation!”

Claude quickly cut in, explaining that the costume ball was last week but it seemed to have no effect on him.

He looked over at Hannah and gasped.

“Oh! A vision as clear as a lake’s surface! Your dusky elegance and bandage on your face are must suited to a beautiful demoness!”

The triplets all turned sharply to Hannah and the Count.

He knelt next to Hannah looking admiringly at the dagger she held.

“Heavens me! A party filled with beauty and fraught with danger.”

I another shocking movement he sat upon the middle couch between Ciel and my master.

“I Druitt have forever served the goddess of beauty. I insist on observing this afternoon’s event for myself!”

My master nodded and Ciel made no objections.

I jumped slightly as he was suddenly beside me.

“And look at this! Another with such long hair and dainty figure! You seem to be the vision of a lovely fairy or flower maiden!”

I frowned at him, “Your observations are shockingly accurate.”

My master scowled, “If you’re going to stay, sit in your own seat.”

He frowned but went to sit down.

My master then turned to me, “Butterfly. Come sit by me.”

I nodded and sat down next to him. To my shock he pulled me even closer and laid his head on my shoulder before looking down upon the arena.

I watched carefully as Sebastian fought off the triplets. I gasped as he speared them all through the head.

“Good show!” my master cried.

I sighed and he looked up to me slightly, “Is something wrong?”

I quickly shook my head, “No, master.”

He nodded and we both turned back to the duel as Hannah pulled out her guns and began shooting at him.

He dodged every shot. It was then that he began throwing knives at her. Within seconds she was pinned. He was about to throw more but Claude kicked one of the giant stone chess pieces in his way and the knives didn’t reach her.

For once, I was thankful to him.

Sebastian turned to Claude as he pushed up his glasses, “That will do for now. It’s time for our tea.”

Sebastian straightened up, “My goodness has it already gotten so late?”

They agreed to suspend the match until tea was over and I saw Hannah sigh in relief.

“Well Butterfly, what do you think? Isn’t it thrilling?”

I bow my head, ‘These sorts of performances don’t interest me.”

He sighed and sat up. We watched the two demons prepare their meals for their masters but when they mentioned souls, I tuned out.

Is that all demons ever talk about? Souls?

They live so long; you’d think they’d get some sort of hobby. Gain interest in a type of art or something.

I looked up to see that during their battle they had been able to create sculptures out of the ingredients. “Hm.” I suppose they did study the arts.

Ciel sighed, “Well that was just a whole lot of pointless.”

I nodded and my master glared at me. I shrugged. “Well it was.”

He rolled his eyes and looked away from me.

I turned to the demons before standing.

“It appears tea is almost ready. Come with me, master.”

He nodded walking with my head bowed behind him. Ciel followed close behind. A bit too close for my taste, even.

We went down to a table, set upon the arena’s checkered floor.

The two butlers' explained the meal and tea and, as excepted Lord Druitt explained them with a vast amount of drama. I shook my head at his foolishness as he went off to ‘powder his nose’.

When the two were finished, they began going back to the viewing stage but Claude stopped me from following.

“Butterfly.”

I turned with a sigh, “Yes?”

He pushed his glasses up and nearly smirked at me, “A delicate thing such as yourself shouldn’t be at this fight. Go back to the house and do the other’s chores.”

I turned slightly as Sebastian laughed, “Delicate? Well you honestly don’t know, Claude.”

Claude stiffened and I tensed between the two demons.

“What on earth do you mean?”

Sebastian did smirk, “Why, you have a weapon of such power and chose to send it away.”

My head snapped toward him. “Shut up!” I hissed.

He smiled at me, “So he doesn’t know?”

I sighed and harshly pushed past him, “I must go. I have chores to complete.”

I looked up at my master who looked down upon us harshly. I bow my head and went back to the house.
