Alexa
While we were talking I noticed that Elias kept staring at Vertia, and that Vertia kept glancing at Elias. Now I am great at telling when people like each other, if I do say so myself. I had a feeling that Zake and Willow liked each other and volia. So I had a feeling that Vertia and Elias kind of liked each other but were not even close to admitting it.
After we wrapped up, I went with Willow, who had gone to find the pegasus. Once we found them, Willow tied a note on one of their backs, then she showed them the signal. She closed her eyes and put out her hand. Suddenly a beam of warm light shot up into the night sky.
"See that?" she told the pegasi, a bit out of breath, "that's the signal. When you see that, come to us."
Then she let them fly back to camp.
"That sure wears you out huh?" I asked her, as we walked back.
"First time I've tried it," she said, her voice sounding really tired.
How did you know it would work?"
"I didn't. Chiron had told me that some children of Apollo can direct light, and since I had the power of glowing and summoning light, I tried it out."
She would have tripped over on the next step if I hadn't caught her.
"Girl, you really need to stop fainting," I said, "come on lean on me."
We continued walking, a bit slower this time.
"Did you notice anything going on between Vertia and Elias?" I asked after a while.
"Yeah," she said, "Vertia had told me that she had a crush on Elias for a long time, but he never seemed to notice her.""Well I can tell you that he does like her, but is way too shy to admit it."
"Yeah I guess," she said. She sounded like she was half asleep.
"Come on Fainting Beauty, let's hurry up and sit next to the hot fire."
When we reached back at camp, the bonfire had been lit, and everyone was sitting around it. I made Willow sit next to Zake and I sat on the other side of her. Most of the others were getting their sleeping bags and setting it up next to the fire. I went to get mine. When I came back I saw that Willow had fallen asleep on Zakes shoulder. Zake didn't seem to mind. I grinned at him, and he smiled back.
Laying my sleeping bag down on the ground I gazed at the stars for a while. Everyone had gone to sleep. But I was afraid to, since last night the weird dreams had made their way to me. I hadn't felt the madness, but I felt the craziness. It was hard to explain, but I did not want to get that dream again. Suddenly next to there was shuffling and someone seemed to get up. When I turned my head I saw that it was a girl. In the dark I could only see the outlines of her body and luscious long hair. Vertia. She strolled up a bit ahead and sat down there. I wondered if I should go up to her. I decided to do it. Standing up I sat down beside her. If she saw me she showed no signs of it. I exhaled loud so she knew I was there.
" Can't sleep?" She asked after a while. I responded with a,
"Well neither can you" She stayed silent for a while, and then randomly said, " Being Venus's daughter, it sure is really hard to get the boy you like to like you back." I had the urge to laugh. And being her daughter, it was sure hard for her to realize he was falling too.
Instead I just said," Have hope" For the first time she actually looked at me.
She let out a laugh and said,"Is there any boy you like? Dex?" My smile disappeared. Boy.
"No." I said shortly. She noticed my stiffness and changed the topic,
"Have you had those dreams yet?" I loosened up a bit,
"Yeah, that's why I can't sleep."
"Hmmm me too" she said softly. We sat there for a while afterward just looking at the stars. The moon illuminated Vertia's face and her gray eyes glowed.
We laid down there and at last, just when I was about to fall asleep, she said," You know, being the matchmaker, you really are hard on yourself. Don't be ashamed of liking girls. In Fact, I have a couple who do. Maybe I'll introduce you to them. Perhaps you'll get your own story."
I said nothing, but allowed a small smile to form on my face.
