Chapter 1 Alpha Ares & Alpha Jr.

    A cool breeze blew on a warm summer day on the bank of the Tennessee River. Alpha Ares was baiting his mate, Luna Rain's hook with a fat night crawler. Luna Rain was making ham and cheese sandwiches with mustard and potato chips on it. Just like 5-year-old Ares Jr. liked them. "Jr.! Your sandwich is ready!" said Luna Rain smiling at her pup. Little Ares props up his fishing pole against the Y shaped stick stuck in the riverbank, wipes his grimy hand on his shorts, and reaches for his food smiling wide saying, "You put the chips on! Thank you, Mama!"  Luna Rain replies "Your welcome Jr." with a warm smile.

"Do you want chips on yours?" Rain asks Ares. Ares chuckles, "Your kidding?" Rain giggles saying, " It's good! I like it!" "I have to try this if my beautiful mate likes it." said Ares with a smile. Rain put chips on the sandwich and handed it to him. Ares took a bite giving a surprised look, chews and swallows. "It's really good!" said Ares "Told you." teased Rain leaning down to kiss Ares lips with a loving peck. Ares give a loving brush of his lips to meet hers as the pull away a loud bang is heard from the river.

Ares spots a boat on the water searching for what made the loud bang. Jr. cries out, " Mama!" Ares turns his head back to his mate laying on the ground with a hole where her heart should be. Ares growled sending animals flying and scurrying away shaking the leaves on the trees. "I WILL KILL ALL OF YOU HUNTER BASTARDS!" Ares transforms into his dark brown wolf crouches for leverage pushing off the bank leaping in the air. Ares came down slashing the hunters like they were paper with red ink spilling everywhere. He leaped back to shore where Jr. was in a folded pile, crying his eyes out kneeling over his mother. Ares dropped to his knees beside Jr. He cradled Rain in his arms crying howling in heartbreak.

Ares POV *********

     I gasp for air sitting straight up, shaken from the nightmare, tears still fresh in his eyes and sweat dripping down his nose. It was much more than just a nightmare. It was a memory, the day my life changed forever. It was the day hunters took Luna Rain, my mother from her mate, son, and pack. Everyone felt the loss in some way and still do. 

Sweat dripped down my cheek. I close my eyes trying to force the memory away.

 Knock! Knock! Before a chance was given to answer the door opens. 

"Alpha sorry to bother you. Hunters were spotted in the Lupus Floridanus Pack!" said Beta Zane baring his neck in submission as he burst in my bedroom unannounced. 

Sitting straight up in bed with a cold smile Ares said, "Call Alpha Dan. Tell him as allies we are coming to assist. Gammas and Deltas in charge! Zane you, Leon, and 2 strong warriors be ready to leave in 1 hour!" I order with a slight smile for having found an outlet for my anger. The true target of my anger. " Yes Alpha!" said Zane scurrying out the door.

I sigh as I run my fingers through my sweaty sticky hair. "I can't wait to spill hunter blood!" Jax, growls to Ares. 

"You will get your chance Jax." replies Ares mind linking. "This is the second time in 3 months hunters have been spotted on pack lands." 

"It's a sign." said Jax.  

"When hunters disappeared 50 years ago, we knew they were planning something. These recent sightings must mean they are back for revenge." 

Jax scoffs, "Revenge for being stupid." 

"I will talk to Alpha Dan about arranging a meeting of the Alphas." 

"Do that after I taste hunter blood!" Jax growls. 

"You will get a chance, we both will." I quickly fumbling through my morning regime.
