Vida's POV Con't.*********
"It's Misty and Zane Alpha." said Leon.
I sit up in bed beside Ares and Leon sees that Ares isn't alone and his eyes get even bigger.
"What have they done now?" asked Ares rubbing his hand through his black tasseled hair.
"I went to the beta floor to wake Zane for his patrol duty. I know last night was hard so when he was late, I thought he overslept. I barged in like I did your room Alpha, and it was empty." stated Leon.
"Empty? What!?!" growled Ares.
Ares POV*******
"Why would they leave?" I say thinking out loud. " Leon! Move someone up in the ranks and have them cover Zane's patrolling shifts. I will have a patrolling schedule change posted later today. I trust your judgement on picking the new Delta."
"I will have 2 candidates going on patrols and let them know this is a trial run for the open Delta position. This will help me cover all Zane's work hours and show me who will step up to the challenge." said Leon.
"Good idea. Maybe have 3 candidates to cover Zane's schedule in case one caves under the pressure, and the others can cover. Let me know who you chose and be in my office by 8:00a.m. in my office."
Leon got the hint as his face turned red with embarrassment; he looked over my shoulder to Vida's little lump in the covers.
"Yes Alpha. Sorry Alpha. Sorry Luna." said Leon showing his neck in submission. "I will see you in your office, um later." said Leon then dashing out of our room in a hurry.
"Where would they go?" asks Vida my innocent inquisitive mate.
"A week ago, I would have said Zane and Misty are loyal pack members. After Misty's lies and deceit to you; her Luna; It showed me a different side of her that I know nothing about." I say turning to face her.
She flinched when she saw my face. My eyes must have been full of anger swirling in gold and black as my tone gave away nothing of my anger. Showing no emotion was a skill I acquired many years ago. Jax was close to the surface as we are as one giving away my only tell, my eyes.
The eyes are the windows to the soul. Mine are showing how enraged that I am, enraged that I was betrayed by my best friend but most of all enraged that I did not see it coming. Well, used to be best friend; before he met his good for nothing mate that tapped into every negative emotion, he had towards me and using it to her advantage.
She was not smart enough for that. Misty had guidance. That is why I did not see this coming from her because she is too stupid to do this alone. I know her and Zane did not have the normal mate relationship but this she must be working for a mastermind with many resources.
"By Zane going with her he also made his choice. I would guess with my enemies that helped them escape my territory. With our heavy surveillance, even with Zane's knowledge 2 wolves should have been noticed leaving the pack from any border. I don't know where they went but I have a bad feeling we will see them again,..... soon." I say trying not to take my anger out on my mate.
I know when Zane comes back, he will not be alone, but I will not scare young Vida. She has grown up secluded for a wolf and with knowing about her harsh destiny. I will not have her worry about this too.
