Waking Up

LOKI'S POV

She has not awoken since the day I was released, the same day I made her mine, well, at least in her mind she had been mine, and I have been hers. But I have not had the chance to slip back since. She is accompanied at all times, if not by Pepper, its Wanda, sometimes Tony.

Even Bucky and Steve have taken turns watching over her. I feel a surge of annoyance at this fact; annoyance which is only fueled by the glares Rogers gives me at times. And I refuse to show them any emotion.

However, her company does not stop me from trying to see her, I wish to speak with her and explain what happened. I was abruptly shaken out of her mind without the chance of explaining to her what was happening.

My expectation was not one for sexual pleasure. I wanted to speak with her and make sure she was alright. Make sure that piece of filth had not injured her beyond repair, but mostly, I wanted her to know that I had every intention of returning to her. Wanda informed me that she thought I had left her, and it simply was not true.

I swore that if the gods granted me the opportunity of seeing her wake, I would protect her from any harm coming her way. With each passing day that she did not wake, I lost hope of seeing those beautiful eyes again.

They had debated on whether or not to take her back to her apartment. Wanda stated that they should since that's where she would want to be, which in turn would help with my situation as I could teleport her. That would give me time alone with her. Enough to travel into her mind and explain everything to her.

However, when Tony got back from hospital and "Dick", as he called him, was nowhere to be found. They decided it would be best to keep her somewhere safe, to which I was fine with since he is nowhere to be found and her safety is what matters.

This morning I made an accordance with Wanda to look after her animal, apparently it did not seem to let anyone near her since Wanda brought it back from the apartment.

The closest it had come to being apart from her chamber was when it crossed the hall and pushed its way into mine simply to make its presence known, and just as it walked in, it walked back out to her chamber once more.

At first, I thought it tedious, looking after something so...useless. However, after a couple of hours it had somehow managed to change my mind. It seemed to care for her in a way I did not understand as it would search for her and lay at her feet while she slept.

He eventually became the excuse I needed to stay close to her as he would spend most of his time by her side. This meant no one could approach her without getting bitten.

That is how I found myself reading in her chamber. I waited for my chance to let my mind flow into hers again without interruptions, but it never seemed to come as Bruce would walk in constantly and run different forms of tests, mostly from afar as her animal would get irritated constantly.

'He took my command to protect her quite seriously' I think to myself once the doctor had gone, and we were left alone again.

"Who did?" I hear the voice I have been craving to hear for days.

I look over and see her trying to sit up on the bed. "You're awake!" I place the book on my lap and attempt to control my emotions.

"I am, why? How long was I out?" she asks warily.

"About four days" I advise her.

Her eyes widen and she looks around but relaxes when she notices the animal next to her.

'I told him to keep you safe. He seems very devoted to his task now' I smile at her, but she ignores my banter.

'I'm surprised you're here.' She links back, sadness in her face.
