**PREVIOUSLY IN CHAPTER 9...

Rich, your ex-boyfriend, forces his way into your apartment and slams you against a wall causing you to hurt your head. You can't focus much on everything that's going on. You just know somehow Loki takes a hold of you and lays you down somewhere soft as he promises to be back after taking care of Richard.
Loki leaves and you wake up the next morning but can't find him. After waiting for hours and not hearing back from him, you break down, convincing yourself he left and did not come back because of your past. You are left alone for the next two days curled up in the same spot you had shared the last kiss. Eventually, after not showing up to work on Monday, Wanda goes to check on you. You tell her what happened, and that Loki didn't come back for you. That's when she tells you that she knows why and explains that Loki was found by some of the Avengers beating a guy to death and will be taken back to Asgard.

LOKI'S POV

After that mongrel barged his way in and attacked her, I teleported behind him and almost cracked his spine in half from the blow to the back. But death is too final, and simply not enough for him and what he's done.

I heard her mind link; this is the man who caused her so much pain. As soon as he lets her go, I pull her into my arms before she can hit the floor, and I hear her call out to me.

'Loki?' her eyes look blank from the hit to the head.

'Yes love, it's me, I'm here. You'll be ok. I promise.' I respond to her link.

She's getting better at this; I smirk at the thought. She's a quick learner. As I carry her into the bedchamber, I look at the sorry excuse of a man on the floor and simply state "Stay" forcefully at him.

I put her into bed and kiss her forehead. 'Don't go, don't leave me please' I hear her plea.

"I must take care of the trash lying unconscious on your floor darling; I shall be back for you." I respond as calmly as I can muster, she nods, and I look over to her animal who is now next to her.

I find myself talking to it, "keep her safe for me".

I walk back to the living quarters, daggers in each hand. I look for that thing I left on the floor, but he was no longer there.

Something knocks a dagger out of my hand, and it goes straight into the floor. I see the man ready to fight. Oh, you want to challenge a God.

I make my second dagger disappear, this Richard, is too distracted to notice my powers. He tries to throw his fists, but he misses as he bumps into every piece of furniture in the room.

I hit him once and throw him towards a framed picture on the other side of the room which shatters to the floor. I hit him a second time which pushes him into the bookcase on the wall adjacent to where the frame was and causes it to break.

I'll have to keep an inventory of the objects I will be replacing for her. He gets up and just as I'm about to hit him a third time he evades my blow and runs out of the apartment.

"I love a chase" I scream to him, and I walk after him making sure I close the door behind me.

I then teleport in front of him in my armor, helmet an all, as he reaches the entrance to the building.

"Got you" I whisper to him and teleport us to the park, the same one where she and I shared one of our first moments together and throw him to the floor.

"What are you man?" he asks trying to catch his breath.

"Who and what I am does not matter! The question is, what gives you the right to treat her in such a way?" I scream at him.
