Grace's POV
"Wha-What?" My voice shook as I spoke. I sat in the chair Mamrie had awkwardly brought for me and my leg bounced noticeably under the table.
"Oh my god, you were." Hannah leaned forward and ran a hand through her hair, gripping it loosely at the back and bowing her head. She snapped her eyes shut and either a muttered fuck or a defeated breath escaped her lips.
"...and I told him 'Mick, if you can't even remember to keep the cage locked-'" I heard the door swing open and turned to see Tyler and Troye walk in. They were both smiling when they came in, but that quickly changed when they saw Hannah.
"Woah," Troye halted his stride a bit. "Did we come at a bad time? We can leave, I just wanted to make sure you guys were okay."
"No, you're fine." Chester wasn't smiling, but he may as well have with the smug look he gave me before he turned to Troye. "Hannah, Grace and I just have some talking to do. We'll only be a minute." He got up and started towards the back room.
"Hannah," I began, but was interrupted by her shooting her head up and looking at me in a way that made every fiber in my body crumble.
Hannah stood and walked to the door Chester had gone through, pausing for a long moment before opening it and walking through. I let out an earthquake of a breath and followed suit.
"Look, Hannah there's a perfectly good explanation for this." I shut the door behind me and looked at Hannah. She faced me but her eyes were fixed on the leg of the table she leant on, her bad hand gripping it until her cuts reopened and blood dripped to the pale tile.
"Just tell me why." Hannah tilted her her head up a bit to look me in the eye. I could just barely see her eyes, but they were bloodshot and tears stained her cheeks.
I shifted my glance to Chester. There was no trace of the smug look that had previously occupied his features. Instead, he glared at me darkly and shook his head, mouthing the word he'd told me a thousand times in the year we'd been together.
Lie.
