He Can't Hurt You

"It's okay, baby. Trust me, he isn't coming back." I tilted her head up to look her in the eye, wiping away her tears as some appeared in my eyes. "He can't hurt you. He was never going to. He just came here to scare me."

"How do you know that for sure?" Her voice cracked on the last word, a sob escaping her lips.

"What do I keep telling you?" I laughed a small bit then went back to the serious moment at hand. "I never know how. I just know who. And I know my father. He's gone forever. I promise."

"But if that was all you had to do, why didn't you already do it?" The way she looked at me in that moment made it seem as if she knew the answer in her heart, but her head was unsure.

"Isn't it obvious?" I smirked at her, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear and looking deep into those brown eyes. "I didn't have anyone who gave me the strength. You did this. Thank you, Grace."

"Sappy little shit." She scoffed. I widened my eyes and brought a hand to cover my mouth in faux-shock. That look faded fast and I kissed her for a long moment. I wanted everything to stop. For that moment to be all there was. One of her hands in mine, the other twirling slightly at the short hairs on the back of my neck. My hand began to trail up and down Grace's back. She was perfect. That, I knew for a fact. But what fascinated me was that she didn't know she was perfect. And a girl like her, how could she not know she was perfect?

Ugh I'm so sorry this is so short. And more to that its been so fricking long since I've updated. It's probably because people started liking it. But nonetheless it's been way too long. I missed you. How've you been? Legit let me know. I'll try to write more and post more but this is genuinely all I've got. I wanted to make this chapter longer but I needed to update. Like its getting ridiculous. If anyone has any input I'd love to read it. Really. I'm stumped. Something drastic may happen in the near future.
