While Julie's first week at work wasn't a walk in the park, Julie was proud of herself for adjusting quickly, even with the added responsibilities she'd be taking on from Marcus during his short-term leave. As planned, Marcus went to lunch with her during the week and had definitely showered, so Julie knew things were overall improving.

"Do you have condoms in your purse?" Danika asked as she rifled through Julie's makeup vanity.

Julie, who was defining some of her curls that weren't sitting exactly to her linking, spun in her chair and looked at Danika knowingly. "I'm not going to sleep with him."

Danika shut the drawer after finding the mascara she was looking for. She crossed her right leg over the left and crossed her arms. "Really? You don't even want to bring one just in case?"

"Nope," Julie laughed. "I'm making it a three date minimum rule that I won't tell him about. I feel like if I end up wanting to see him several times after tonight that the sex will be less disappointing for me."

Danika sighed and made her way to her best friend. "I really don't think Hermes ruined sex for you. I honestly think it's because you've been sleeping with each other for years and got to know each other's bodies so well that it's just awkward with someone new."

Julie frowned slightly and sighed, taking her favourite mascara from Danika. "I really hope you're right about that."

Danika returned to Julie's bed, which currently had a burnt-orange duvet on it,  and laid down on her stomach, propping her upper body up with two cushions. "Persephone tells me that Melinoë is going to be hanging out here with Marcus more often."

Julie, who was in the middle of applying mascara, simply responded, "aha," not wanting to poke herself in the eye with the wand of pain. She could never speak when coating her lashes and her mouth normally hung wide open. When she finished and the tube was tightly closed she started preparing her false lashes. "Yeah, he's going to run out of tasks that I set him up with soon so it's a good time. She doesn't seem to annoy him much."

"Very true," Danika responded. "It's good for Melinoë too. She rarely leaves the underworld unless one of us is dragging her somewhere. She's like me, but fifty times more introverted."

Julie stuck on the lashes and held them to her eyes, but swore when her phone beeped from the nightstand. "Can you check who that's from? she asked Danika.

Danika army crawled her way across the bed to the nightstand and grabbed Julie's phone, unlocking it to see who sent the message. "Ooh Hamish is going to be here in ten minutes to get you."

"Tell him I'm ready to go," Julie instructed before she carefully removed her pinched fingers from her eyelashes, making sure they wouldn't come right off due to any potentially deviant glue. She frantically applied setting spray with one hand, while covering her eyes with the other and applied another layer of highlighter, using the leftover on the brush for her shoulders and collarbones.

Danika disappeared from the bed and a few moments reappeared next to Julie with a perfume bottle in hand. "Is this still your favourite?"

Julie nodded and took the bottle before standing up and doing a dramatic spray and walk through. "You can never go wrong with YSL."
