Something stirs in Karl as he sets himself into a comfortable position for stasis.

. . .

. .

March 3rd, 2039

Blur. Why did everything around him seem like a blur?

It feels like a distant memory, long forgotten in the past.

But he found himself standing in front of a beach, when the sun was dipping down the horizon.

There was something in his chest, and his thirium pump beats faster. How? Why? What was happening to him?

Something-- no, someone calls out to him.

"Karl! Why are you just standing there? You malfunction or something?"

It was the first time the detective had called by his given name. But Karl doesn't remember that.

He couldn't control his actions; only watching as he talked to his partner.

"Just enjoying the view, Detective. You should too, since you're always nose deep in your work." His mouth quirks into a grin.

His mouth quirks into a grin.

Karl jolts out of stasis mode, beginning a self-diagnosis scan to see what was wrong with his system.

Nothing came up. How unusual.

Maybe there was just a bug in his programming.

But.. he couldn't help but remember the weird visualization of him and the detective; the way he smiled, he hadn't felt this foreign feeling.
